KapMan
Got two free 7" stainless steel bars in the mail today from @Sapper88. 1/4 and what I can only assume is 9/32. I assume because my dumbass doesnt have calipers. Beautiful clean bars. The ends look to be machined as well. I picked up the package on the way to get my kiddos, I opened it in carpool and fooled around. I kinked the 1/4 DU barehanded and attempted to finish it at home. I bent it an additional 2-3 inches barehanded and then stall because I couldnt get grip. I did the bigger bar DU with single fbbc leathers. I figured since I did that why not try the FBBC one. Nope. Nope. Couldnt budge it. These bars were easy until the crush and it kinda bounced back. I got both to standard i believe. Look forward to seeing what others say. I bent today pain free. Pretty happy about that.
KRC
I bent their 5/16" Stainless and it was a great bar to bend. Harder than store bought stainless but slightly easier on the crush than FBBC. The strength curve was more level all the way through than FBBC. Agreed that they are very clean and high quality. Looking forward to more from them.
JHenze646
@Sapper88 what stainless are you starting with?
Sapper88
303 stainless. In my experimentation I found that the other grades do not offer enough change in difficulty to justify the increased difficulty in the machining process. With this type of stainless, the contents are precisely controlled to remove the magnetic property and maintain machinability. So the idea was that pound for pound it would be the most consistent (my biggest concern) and cost effective type. That being said, any material or size/length will be available per a request/special order. Andrew Dube
@Sapper88 Curious why you have chosen to machine the ends? Are you cutting them on a CNC with a bar feeder?
Sapper88
I chose to first because I, as a machinist, was frustrated with the lack of consistency in the ends from the big 3 companies. I feel like i can notice the difference when I'm bending as I feel they bite into the wraps differently. Then i realized that it should in theory prolong the life of the wraps the bender uses. It's just one more variable that I felt should be controlled merely because it adds no cost for me to do so. As a matter of fact I am. Keen observation. I am using my swiss machine. I figured because otherwise it would add a lot of additional labour. I appreciate your attention to detail as I'm sure your customers will as well!

I'm thinking I am going to alter the design of the bars a bit further to make them even easier to produce which will unintentionally improve a few other parts of the bending experience. I really hope you guys from The North can make it to the competition. And we can discuss putting some of the new products in the grip n bend inventory.
