2017 Goals

These are my "realistic" 2017 Grip goals:

  1. Certify on the #4 and #5 Monster Hunter grippers from Silvis
  2. Mash the Frankenstein 8 mm Silvis Gripper at its toughest setting
  3. Certify as an MM0 Mash Monster

Now that I'm healthy again, this is what I want to accomplish in 2017:

1) Deadlift 500 lbs. I have a history of knee and ankle injuries but they are finally strong again. I am probably in the low 400s right now but now that my legs are finally healthy my progress is going well.

2) Certify on the MM7 and COC #3.5 grippers. I should have already done this but life got in the way. I need these certs.

3) Return to grip competitions and do well again. First competition is scheduled for 7/15/17.

Many realistic grip goals, a couple are tough but attainable:

1. CTD cert, COC #3 cert, MM3 cert, & GHP 7 cert

2. Pull 200 on the 2.5" crusher

3. 1HP 110 lbs

4. Half 120 hex lift, blob face lift, & (this may be pushing it) lift blobzilla

Ya...years back I tried both....figured out that Sumo was for me....I was 275 lbs back then but I had pretty good flexibility.  I liked the "leverage advantage" that Sumo gave to its practitioners.

I have done this both hands and it was very easy. Based on your crush, you should have this now no problem.

I use sumo with the axle. I feel it gives me better grip since my arms come straight down on the bar. When I use heavy weight with a regular bar, I feel sumo aggregates my knee and ankle issues since my legs are flared outward.

Off the top of my head:

MH4 cert.

Being able to CCS my CoC 2.5 consistently.

I hope to be able to do a deep set rep with my CoC 3 by the end of 2017 (or GHP7).

Bench close to 300 lbs or ~135 kg for one rep.

Deadlift 460 lbs or ~210 kg for one rep.

Squat around 365 lbs or ~165 kg or so for one proper rep. I suck at squats.

1.) Family time (Outside).

2.) Bend more substantial bars.

3.) Not be a dingus and hurt myself by bending heavy bars without warming up.

Before I posted, I wanted to go back and check to see what I wrote last year, and to see if I actually made those goals.

Proud to say I accomplished 3 of those 5 goals. So moving along, here are my 2017 goals.

-Make it to Gripmas again this year

-MM0 cert

-Deadlift 455 pounds

-Get at least 75 lbs on the one hand flask at SJ4

2017 Goals

Overall goal is to do well at Strongman Corp Nationals, and qualify for the Arnold at 2017 nationals or another comparable comp.  Getting my pro card would be the end goal.

However, I would be really proud to hit the following lifts:

350# Axle or Log C&P

675# Deadlift or higher

400+# Stone to any platform

Rejoining the 500 club is definitely a 2017 goal. Best ever was 535 few years back. Also:

  • The Inch, of course.
  • 2hp flask as close to 200 as possible
  • Stirrup 120+
  • Stay in the 3" trilobite handle top 5, lol
  • Get 2" V-bar numbers back to respectability

2017 strength goals

Being healthier overall

Having better wrist as I still have wrist pain when thick bar and grippers. Pinch is the best for me. Best part is I got rid of the cast.

To double lift my Fatman blob I got from Paul Knight (i can lift it to little above knee level now).

To lift my 68kg inch

To lift 100kg on the flask (can do 90kg now)

Close the 3 again easily.

To have good air under my heavygriptools 30kg monster blob.

And enjoy everything else.

Training has taken a back seat to life lately, but I plan on getting stronger in the new year. I want to certify on the #3 and GHP7.
