Wow! That's mega strong. Can you pass this info link on to him? I'm sure just coming would be a great time, but since we have almost 10 weeks...gotta get a gripper in his hand. anwnate
Friday's SJ4 Update...9 weeks to go. We lost two peeps from the west coast this week...momentarily bringing us back down to a paltry 48. I can assure you this number will end up significantly higher. I decided to do this week's update in pictures...:) For my own amusement...I spent a good 20 minutes making a drawing illustrating my thoughts on losing people from the comp. Something new for my gym...shamelessly stolen from Paul Knights Garage...an ode to AC/DC. 30mm x 20mm setting blocks. Hmmm...not nearly enough yet. A small 2' x 3' poster to hang in the hotel event room. Finally...a Medley prize for the Big Dogs to fight for. Donated by Mike Krahling. 16lbs empty...comes with enough min weight to take it over 30lbs.

anwnate
Friday's SJ4 Update...8 weeks to go! Lots of cool stuff this week. We had a number of new contestants committing to SJ4. Arm wrestlers, a Gym owner and none other than the World Record Holder on the Dinnie Stones... @Bryan Hunsaker. Kenny Smith, Kyle Flynn, Steve Nichols and Kenneth McDowell rounding out the surge in numbers. We are now sitting on a historic NAGS number of 53 contestants...with a great number of fence sitters still to be heard from. Currently we have 3 women, but I suspect that will rise a few by comp day. Many of the weight classes are reaching impressive numbers. Here's the current breakdown... Many thanks to our generous sponsor... @Jared Goguen with Mammoth Grip...for sending equipment and apparel as prizes for contestants. You rock! After the Medley and Bending...it will be time to relax for friends, feats and fun for the rest of the night. Besides lifts of odd objects, anyone wanting to learn how to bend steel, tear phone books or a pack (or partial) deck of cards...will be able to do so...for there will be plenty of fodder to go after. I put the word out to a neighborhood group and will soon be collecting used phone books and used decks of cards. The post office is already saving catalogues for me. They are the perfect size for beginners to learn with. From what I gather, I should soon have a collection of over a hundred phone books and catalogues for tearing. The basement is almost done and I'm hopeful we will be able to watch all the medleys together, rather than go in shifts. Big thanks to all who have been helping me make this contest historic.

anwnate
Friday's SJ4 Update...7 weeks to go! Time is flying by. We have 2 new signups this week. Both are first time gripsters…but with brutal grips. SJ4 welcomes, Matt Kraenbring (120kg)who has simply worked out for years and… Clint Moneymaker (120+kg)…a big guy, with a beard life, who lifts weights…and forks. This brings SJ4 attendance to 55. With people on the fence…and new gripsters, I have no doubt we will eclipse 60. Where we will end up…who knows. Thought I'd share my wife's first SJ4 shopping trip. If you didn't know what 63lbs of Ribs look like…now you do. Additionally…@Josh Henze told me there was insufficient excitement for SJ4. Since the gauntlet has been thrown…I have decided to share this… (Nuff said.)
anwnate
Friday's SJ4 Update...6 weeks to go! I'd like to preface this update with a thank you to @Jedd Johnson and @Allen Heineck for the shout outs regarding SJ4. I can only hope to follow through with all this build up. #Thisweekingrip …rocks! Let it be known…I have I have a smooth IronGrip that weighs 56lbs. I have a pair of 5lb plates that sandwich it nicely As a nod to TWIG…this will become a challenge event after the comp. I'm gonna figure out a prize for it, if anyone has the insane grip to get it…ties being broken by time held. Contestant numbers have not moved in the last week, but I'm still confident we will break 60 before it's time. I only hope people make their decision before I have to order all the Tshirts. I'm gonna hold off as long as possible. 6 weeks! That might seem like a lot of time, but on my end…there is a sht-ton of work to do still. Additionally, I have the pleasure of hosting the Hulshof family the week of the comp…so I really want everything done prior to their arrival. That leaves me with just over 5 weeks. Ouch! Heading to the event room at the hotel again to take some final measurements and make sure I'll have access to 3 T.V.s. Unfortunately, I'll have to spring for the longer cords to create a couple of slaves out of two of them. Again…unexpected expenses. However…having 60 people crowding around 1 32" TV seems a little ridiculous. I'm hoping to get my "sponsor packet" done today. I've really been slacking on it…and am sure that it will be helpful in obtaining sponsors outside of "Gripsport." Speaking of sponsors. Jared sent me a "Mammoth Grip Tool" Banner upon my request. I felt as a sponsor, it was important that his company be represented there…even if he could not be there. I temporarily hung it in my basement to take a look at it. Additionally, Richard just told me he would be sending a package that included a banner so that Sorinex could also be represented. I really think these Sponsors (DC, BSS, CPW, FBBC, SNX) will boost the ambiance of the Event Room. Plus…since this will be on video…it give a little extra advertising for our sponsors. I also have received packages from Josh Henze, Chris Rice. Both Josh and Chris donated some self made equipment and Josh is big on making "one off" equipment and isn't a company. For instance, his climber pinch you see…is actually a different diameter and gives a totally different feel for it. Chris sent a multipurpose leg/arm thingy, a wrist lever and a pinch block with a pin load. Everything is completely appreciated and I know some lucky winners will be happy to add an additional element to their training. I have also installed some overhead pipes that can serve in a variety of ways. Should allow for more feats of strength for those who wish to try.
anwnate
So...Fed Ex pulled up just a few minutes ago with one of the bigger prizes for SJ4. I could wait til next Friday, but whatever... SJ4's giving away a "Napalm Pro Pinch" system (TY Eric) for those who can battle and win it. Whether using it as is, upgrading or simply as a trade. Pretty sweet prize for those peeps who work hard year in and year out.
anwnate
Friday's SJ4 Update...5 weeks to go! We lost a few contestants this week. Unfortunately Tom's kids (Jacob and Andrew) will be at Camp and unable to compete. Tom has assured me that he will be there and fighting hard for victory. Connor Flaherty also told me he can not attend, but I rejected his cancellation. The rest of the Massachusetts Contingent has agreed to rough him up (not the hands though) until he changes his mind about bailing. Apparently Flaherty missed the part about "Barring and Act of God." Tsk tsk. If Connor happens not to survive the rough up...we will be down to 52 contestants again. There is some talk from some incredible people who want to come, but haven't been able to commit yet. I won't give out names...because frankly, I'm harassing them enough by myself. Just know, I still expect to eclipse 60 peeps. I am seriously hoping that people sign on quickly because I'm going to have to order the shirts soon. I'd like to order them in advance...in case there are problems. Sure I can order a few extra...but who knows what sizes people need. Still lots to do in preparation for the comp. I'm just handling one issue at a time. I'm glad I'm only going this big...once! It'll be epic...but I'll be unwinding for weeks. Couple of pics from this week. Richard @1stCoC came through. Thanks Pops! I went ahead and hung up the banner in the basement temporarily. The hotel event room is gonna look badass.

Climber028
This will be my first contest and first time trying most implements, really excited to meet people and learn about what gripsport is really like. I don't have any specialised equipment but will spend the next month working 1 arm deadlifts and plate pinches, hopefully my last place lifts won't be too bad.
