What are you bending and is it dangerous?

Rebar snaps incredibly well, believe it or not. It snaps much more quickly than other types of steel when you're moving it, but doesn't snap unexpectedly on single bends.

Do not bend Lathe Bar Stock. These things snap right at 30 degrees. A 6mm x150mm lathe bar rated around 750lb --- right before it snapped. HRC of 61~63 -- worse than Key stock.

I would say grade 8 bolts are right at the limit of hardness vs snap potential.

Snapped a pole barn ring shank nail and it didn’t feel nor sound good.

Sounded like a rubber band snapping. Honestly thought it was the rubber band i used to wrap it.
