Guest ms316
Thought I should start off a log an introduce myself Had a broken finger playing soccer 5 years ago which is now held together by 2 pins an a piece of wire. At the time I was into bodybuilding and as soon as I was able to get back to the gym I found myself using wrist straps on every exercise. About 6 months ago I thought I'd switch to powerlifting. All was well until I tried to deadlift without the straps and could barely get the bar off the ground for warmups. I can now deadlift 572lbs without any grip issues and have deadlifted 400lbs for 4 reps with a double overgrip. I'm working grip twice a week at the moment using grippers, plier holds, pinch grips with 22lb plates or concrete blocks and plate curls or wrist roller. My initail goal was just to develope grip to be able to deadlift, but after I got the grippers, I just got hooked. I'm now working my way up them and also want to get good all-round grip strength. Last workout was Tuesday and looked like this.... Warmup with sports store gripper CoC #1 12R, 12L, 10R, 10L (left hand needed 4 forced reps) 2 sets of static holds (untimed) Hammer curls with pliers and a bucket of rocks (as in MOHS) 2 sets of 8 1 set of 6 (more rocks) Pinch grip upright rows with concrete block 3 sets of 5 Pinch grip wrist curls with block 2 sets of 12 Edited June 26, 2003 by ms316

Guest ms316
Thanks all! Just got my CoC #2...opened the packaging and had to try.... R closed and quarter of an inch away L about an inch away R closed, reset and closed again. L about quarter of an inch away They were much easier than I thought. I got home from work and had no warm up. Just launched straight into them. I hope #3 will come as easy. I got the Mastery of Hand Strength and read the book in a day. There's another book by John Brookfield about gripwork and was wondering if anyone could recommend it or other books?

Guest ms316
I've been a bit biusy so haven't posted in a while, I'm still bashing away at #2 and am trying to close it lefty and rep with my right. I'm working on my crushing grip more as I seem fixated on this #2. My CoC routine today is just a quick one but here's the details.... #2 Right 1 rep and one very close 2nd. There was just the slightest gap so I want 2 reps next week #2 Left still a quarter of an inch away #1 2 sets of 6 reps with each hand with the last rep squeezed as hard as possible for a slow count of ten. I needed forced reps on the last set with lefty and squeezed so much I got a nose bleed so I decided to leave it there for this session. Guest ms316
Did the rest of yesterday's grip workout at the gym after my bench session..... Pinch Grip Pair of 22lb plates pinched for as long as possible Right 28 secs, Left 28 secs, Right 28 secs, left 18 secs Wrist Curls with plate 13lb plate 2 sets of 12 each hand Then did 300 yard Farmers Walk with 115.5 lb dumbells setting them down twice. A 150lb Bodybuilder had a go and only set them down once which impressed me My goal is to do this without setting them down by end of August. Jonathan McMillan
ms316, Sounds like your going to have to get the gym owner to buy some new heavier dumbells soon Jon@han

Guest ms316
Farmers walks 300 yards Whoo hooey!! 270 yards I think this maybe hurting my CoC workouts as I attempted to close the #2 yesterday and missed so I just put them down and left it there.
