105k is a very good place to be- it gives you many options and keeps you in a good spot for both 220 and 242 divisions if you're competing frequently!

Very true in general. But being that I only compete USAPL it's kind of a moot point. There's no 220 or 242. The next class up is 264; and I just don't see myself growing into that class while remaining healthy.

Squat

434x5

422x3 (3 second pauses) PR!

Bench

325x2 post-injury PR!

272x3 (3 second pauses)

Damn you are on fire! Do you really 'only' do the stuff you are posting or are you secretly also doing assistance stuff? Because besides the chinups and hammer curls you seem to do almost no assistance work at all. Just wondering...

Thank you! Lol, yes everything I do is posted here in my log. I've always just enjoyed the minimalist approach. Specificity for sure.

Deadlift

500x8 (felt easier than anticipated-was good for 10)

Chinup

342x1 PR!

-then immediately 7 pull-ups

Good luck at Nationals!

Will you be doing grip in your off season?

Thank you very much!

I still do a little grip during the week, but a grip contest wouldn't be out of the question. 😊

Historic Deadlift Workout

After 36 years of consistent deadlift training I am thrilled to be at my all-time strongest as of today. Because the 536x6 was easy enough to suggest I had another rep or two in me today, I'm confident I can pull at least 655 raw. This eclipses my previous best strength I attained in my mid-twenties  by about ten pounds. For many years it seemed that my best pulling was behind me, so I'm happier than a pig in shit! Lol. As a lifetime drug-free lifter I feel particularly proud (no disrespect to those who follow a different path-I only wish to encourage those plugging away year after year drug-free😊).Heck, I'm entering the 50-59 age group at Raw Nationals this year, so I feel very fortunate to resurrect my lifting this late in the game. Thanks to all those that check in here to say a word of encouragement or hit the "like" button!

Deadlift

536x6 (good for 1 or 2 more) PR!

Chins

292x6 PR!

-then immediately 3 pull-ups

Your log really gives me hope that I will break 500 deadlift at (only) 42-43!

Best of luck at nationals. When are they?

I think you're going to pull 500 pounds. 😉

It's a multi-day event, but I lift October 14th.

And thanks!
