When's your next meet?

Haha, thanks!

I'm competing at Raw Nationals this October. I've decided to let my body weight fall where it may, as I'm hovering at the 105k class limit now. I want to see how strong I can get regardless of body weight. With that in mind I hope to go 573, 353, 661 at this meet. It will be my first meet in the 50-59 age group. Yikes!

Wow that's super inspirational Eric.

Your best ever DL is still 670 in a crappy suit literally decades ago?

Thank you!

The 670 I got to just above my knees in 1996, I believe. So my best in a meet is 644 in a suit that gave me 10 or 15 pounds, about a decade ago.

Honestly, I've already far exceeded my expectations. Three years ago my lifting was kind of down in the dumps before I decided to double down and focus on powerlifting again. 😊

Nice! For your weighted chins are you just working up to a top set triple then some back-offs?

Thanks!

I normally just do one or two body weight warmups for five reps. Today I did body weight 2x5 and then 280x2 for my last warmup. I wanted to be thoroughly warmed up for that heavy triple. It was a 100% effort.

The 3 reps afterwards with no rest was just for a little extra muscle break down.

How many more weeks of hard training before nats?

Provided you didn't peak to early, you should be absolutely killing it! :rock

Thank you!

I have twelve squats and twelve deadlift workouts, and twenty-three benches, as I hit them twice a week.

Im so fickle, but I've changed my mind again and have decided to lift at 105k. So I can't afford to really gain more than a pound or two. I should be able to peak ok, but I've already far exceeded my strength levels from last year's Nationals.

Squat (no belt)

386x5

367x3 (3 second pauses)

Bench

301x4 post-injury PR!

Wide Grip Bench

251x8

-then curls with a 100 plate

105k is a very good place to be- it gives you many options and keeps you in a good spot for both 220 and 242 divisions if you're competing frequently!
