I'm eager to see you kill it at Nationals. Thank you! I think the main reason it works for me is simply it’s the sort of training that best motivates me. Keeps it fun. Raymond
Very impressive Eric! I know quite a few guys in their 30's who'd be happy to hit 500 for a single. Seeing you smash it 5 times with 562 was awesome, Do you figure in any extra recovery time after an effort like that or just train as normal? Yes, I’ll be getting an extra four days rest on deadlift, so I should be arriving in Chicago nice and refreshed... and fat and happy; I’m not cutting weight anymore! 3Crusher
Eric- You know you're moving serious weight when the whole damn house shakes when you're putting the barbell down! That was a really impressive set! Good luck at your meet.

And dare I say, “it’s about time “. For about two decades I didn’t set a single lifting PR. I was either Jiu Jitsuing, running, gripping, or bending, with my bodyweight ranging between 163 and 217. And then in 2014, with raw lifting becoming popular, I decided to double-down on my first love. Eating big and exploring a wider range of rep ranges have been key to kickstarting my progress. I realize it’s probably nauseating to see my little “PR”s popping up every week in my log, but they are my main motivating factor. I do feel a slowdown coming on, though, so I may be inventing new PR categories soon: gimpy hamstring squat PR, sore erectors deadlift PR, inflamed shoulders without coffee on a early Sunday morning after a shit week of work PR, etc. And thanks for the support, buddy! EricMilfeld
Squat 75x2x5 105x5 135x3 175x3 205x1 235x3 PR!!! That was a an all-time best by 17 pounds. Happy with my depth and form. No weird niggles, except for a left shoulder pain from deciding to throw jabs at myself in the mirror after watching too much Butterbean. Yes, 51 going on 12.

Here’s my “workout” yesterday: Squat 518x1 551x1 562x1 PR by 17 pounds! Bench 320x1 331x1 342x not quite lol Deadlift 606x1 I’m thrilled with the squat PR, as well as accumulating a total of four 2nd place finishes at National Powerlifting meets. Weird aches and pains pop up now and then to derail my bench and my deadlift just flat out felt too overtrained to risk a second attempt and injury. A bit disappointed by that, as I wanted a 650-661 pull. But still very happy. Onwards and upwards to next year!
Raymond
You're smashing it Eric! Seeing all those PR's and competition results reinforces that excuses have no place in this game. Gives and old boy like me reason to keep going. Well done mate! Edited October 21, 2019 by Raymond
