My shoulder had me on the fence about benching, but decided to work up to one high-rep set:

120x8 (missed the 9th)

My Bench has fallen about 15 pounds because of this shoulder injury.

Are you doing anything to heal it?

Ibuprofen, heat, stretching, etc. I really need rest. After my meet I’ll take a month off.

Thanks! Not quite where I’ve been recently, but at least I can still bench through this injury.

I failed on a 185 box squat today, so I pretty much hate you right now.  Haha

Look at the bright side - I’m not a 126 pound Chinese girl.

You know, in my 36 years of squatting I’ve never done a box squat. And I’ve only started doing pause squats in the last year or two. I’d be worried about sitting on something with weight on my back. Makes me nervous for a lower back tweak.

I'm slow and careful on the decent with padding to cushion the blow, but I hear ya.

Deadlift

250x5 ALL-TIME PR!!!

- I think I had a sixth rep, so that’s just how I needed that set to feel.

Next pull will be at Nationals.

Nice buddy! A triple is definitely dominating it.

Aprecciate you!

But man was it a hard triple. Wasn’t expecting that. But it’s still nice to go into the meet off a PR. And unlike deadlifts, grinding squats don’t zap my hard drive.

Raw Nationals

Squat

518, 535, 546 PR!

Bench

308, 320 (not bad with a shoulder injury, passed my third)

Deadlift

595, 628 PR! (passed my third)

Second place was good enough to qualify me for the IPF Worlds in Sweden.

And the great hookgrip experiment has come to a crashing finish. The Titex bar used had very soft knurling and I almost dropped my opener. I switched to mixed grip for the 628 with no trouble. My hands just aren’t suited for pulling max deads with a hook. No problem, I’ll train double over and with straps and use mixed for contests

Thank you, buddy! I'm still floating in the clouds.  Nothing better than experiencing all the hard work coming together for a good performance.

Thanks, Carl!  Yeah, I've been very happy with my squat progress.  Weight gain helps this lift like no other.  I'm so tempted to eat up to the 120 class!  Lol.
