I haven't been using wraps on squats in months, and mainly use non-supportive knee sleeves on my heavier attempts.  Raw squats have been going up, but I haven't tried 400, or close to it, with sleeves in a long time.  I ended up getting stopped about halfway up, and tried a second attempt, and got stopped again.  Just couldn't blast through it.  So, for punishment (out of frustration), I did a set of 20 reps.  I probably could've have gone a little heavier, but the last 5 reps were tough.  I haven't done these in years, and my legs/hips were sore within 10 minutes of the set.  Haven't felt sore like that after squats in a long time!  Might try working 20-reppers back in the routine for fun/something different.  :D

225 x 20 is tough, nice work!

Thanks man!  Should be able to keep bumping that up.  The limiting factor, I think, will be the knees.

I think I could have gotten a third rep with 305 on axle benches, but my set-up wasn't great, and I was a little out-of-position (too close to the uprights).  Hit the uprights on the second rep and would've done the same on the third, probably causing the rep to fail.

Squats felt a lot better today than last week.  The 245 was very similar to the 225 last week.  The last few reps took about 5 sec. between them ... tough, but not quite vomit-inducing yet.

Cutting these bars down is starting to get pretty tough.  The snapping is an insane workout!  The 3/8" bar took way too long, but it seems to be getting somewhat better with time.

Bench and strict press felt really heavy today.  But grippers felt awesome.  The 3 reps with the 120 were solid ... might have been able to get to 5, which is not typical with that gripper.

Card Tearing
54 Cards

I haven't done much card-tearing lately, but this was the first time I included the jokers in the deck.  It felt way too easy, surprisingly.  Maybe, just because my hands feel a little better (not making multiple deck attempts within a few days).   Grippers felt pretty good today.  My 106 Master feels a lot harder than a RGC 106, so I was happy with getting 9 solid reps.  It needs oiled really bad too, which is making it harder than it should be.

Week 3 of 20-rep squats.  :ohmy  Things started slowing down right around rep 10, and I was getting pretty gassed at 15.  The last 5 reps took a long time, causing me to have some challenges keeping the bar in position.  These reps are definitely a challenge and tax you like not many things I've experienced.  If all goes as planned, and things keep progressing, I will make an attempt at 275 x 20 over the next few weeks, which should be rough.

It’s a gutsy move. And I only know from doing a set of 15. I’ve only done 20 on bench and deadlift.

Good luck!

Thanks!  Just looking to mix things up a little but the challenge of it is addicting, despite the grueling reps.  I ended up ordering a pair of SBDs today (XL).  Should have them by Friday and will try them out this weekend.  I thought about a large, but didn't want to go crazy tight never having worn them.  Maybe, at some point, I'll get a tighter pair too.

I went tight. After it took 20 minutes to get the first one over my calf, I was too tired to workout. So I returned them for the next size up.  :blush:laugh

Great set!  Most I ever did was 225 x 20 and wanted to die.

I don’t think I would want want to do multiple weeks of 20s. Lol.

And good to hear you’re getting the sleeves.

Thanks Mike!  Yeah, definitely a different beast.  I was never great on high-rep stuff for squats or deads ... definitely a challenge.  I've heard similar stories about the tight SBDs, with people having a lot of trouble with the tighter sizes.  Some of them even harder than getting a tight suit on.  LOL

On a whim, I decided to try a much shorter 5/16" bar than what I've been doing.  Wasn't sure what to expect, but it didn't disappoint!  Truly a tough workout and challenge and very taxing.  Maybe going ahead, I'll make an attempt at a braced snap for a Red, but it still seems out-there at this point.  :blink

When I woke up today, I had planned to make an attempt at 265 x 20, which I knew would be tough.  But, wearing my new sleeves, all of the preceding reps felt awesome so I decided to give it a shot.  All--in-all, a tough, grinding set of 20, but definite improvement over the past couple of weeks.  I could barely keep my legs straight for the last rep, but somehow got it.  I might wrap this 20-rep experiemnt up now at one month completed, and revist it at some point in the future.  For a 1-3 rep guy, this was a dramatic change in training, but I'm glad I tried it.  A differnent kind of challenge for sure!
