Raw squats have been going up, but I haven't tried 400, or close to it, with sleeves in a long time. I ended up getting stopped about halfway up, and tried a second attempt, and got stopped again. Just couldn't blast through it. So, for punishment (out of frustration), I did a set of 20 reps. I probably could've have gone a little heavier, but the last 5 reps were tough. I haven't done these in years, and my legs/hips were sore within 10 minutes of the set. Haven't felt sore like that after squats in a long time! Might try working 20-reppers back in the routine for fun/something different. 225 x 20 is tough, nice work!

Hit the uprights on the second rep and would've done the same on the third, probably causing the rep to fail.

It felt way too easy, surprisingly. Maybe, just because my hands feel a little better (not making multiple deck attempts within a few days). Grippers felt pretty good today. My 106 Master feels a lot harder than a RGC 106, so I was happy with getting 9 solid reps. It needs oiled really bad too, which is making it harder than it should be. Things started slowing down right around rep 10, and I was getting pretty gassed at 15. The last 5 reps took a long time, causing me to have some challenges keeping the bar in position. These reps are definitely a challenge and tax you like not many things I've experienced. If all goes as planned, and things keep progressing, I will make an attempt at 275 x 20 over the next few weeks, which should be rough.
EricMilfeld
It’s a gutsy move. And I only know from doing a set of 15. I’ve only done 20 on bench and deadlift. Good luck!

I ended up ordering a pair of SBDs today (XL). Should have them by Friday and will try them out this weekend. I thought about a large, but didn't want to go crazy tight never having worn them. Maybe, at some point, I'll get a tighter pair too.

I went tight. After it took 20 minutes to get the first one over my calf, I was too tired to workout. So I returned them for the next size up. Great set! Most I ever did was 225 x 20 and wanted to die. Edited March 29, 2018 by Mike Rinderle

Thanks Mike! Yeah, definitely a different beast. I was never great on high-rep stuff for squats or deads ... definitely a challenge. I've heard similar stories about the tight SBDs, with people having a lot of trouble with the tighter sizes. Some of them even harder than getting a tight suit on. But, wearing my new sleeves, all of the preceding reps felt awesome so I decided to give it a shot. All--in-all, a tough, grinding set of 20, but definite improvement over the past couple of weeks. I could barely keep my legs straight for the last rep, but somehow got it. I might wrap this 20-rep experiemnt up now at one month completed, and revist it at some point in the future. For a 1-3 rep guy, this was a dramatic change in training, but I'm glad I tried it. A differnent kind of challenge for sure!
