I didn't have any 5/8" bars in the 30" range, and was going to cut the 40" bar down, but passed on taking my stuff out back, due to the snow.  So, I stuck with the 40" bar, which was way too easy and a waste of an effort, it turned out.  Continuing to experiment with the snapping, and tried some 1/4" stock, all of which snapped pretty fast.

Bending hasn't felt "great" the past few months, but I am still planning to participate in the bending portion of the South Jersey contest at Nate's.  I've never quite done anything like what is planned, so it should definitely be interesting!

Sat (2/24)

I traveled to Nate's for the South Jersey 4 for February event.  Overall, a pretty great event.  My numbers were down in almost everything though, as I made some pretty big mistakes with attempt selection, which ended up costing me in grippers and the Hub (where my numbers were down in both).  But, keep learning through experience, I guess.

Here is the write-up: https://www.gripboard.com/index.php?/topic/48446-2018-february-south-jerseys-four-for-february-carl-donati-jr/

Bench felt pretty good today.  I might have been able to get a fourth rep with the 300, but didn't want to get sloppy with the form.

Barbell shrugs felt heavy,  which they typically do, if I don't regularly work them in.  I was starting to lose my grip on the 455 on the last rep.  The Hub and Pinchblock felt awesome today, unlike a few days ago.  :unsure   I haven't attempted a 200+ seated press in over five years, but the 185 felt so strong, I thought I'd make an attempt.  It turned out that I didn't have much left and it was essentially stuck on the bottom, maybe got an inch of air.

I am starting to get cut on the DubHub, in the thumb webbing, so have been pulling back on heavier reps.  (This happened last year, when I was training it regularly, but seems to be worse lately, possibly due to the temps in my basement.)  I've been making several unsuccessful attempts at my 37.5 Blob lately, but have recently started to get some slight hovering.  After three 1/2" hovers today, I finally got it up for a solid rep.  It seems when the surface is ideal, it makes a night-and-day difference for me.  I was able to get it up after several attempts, and with most of the chalk off of it.  Actually seemed more slippery with the chalk on it.  Grippers felt OK.  Definitely weaker the past few months, but I am turning my focus to more bending-specific for the comp next month, and am going to try to maintain with the grippers.

I haven't been using wraps on squats in months, and mainly use non-supportive knee sleeves on my heavier attempts.  Raw squats have been going up, but I haven't tried 400, or close to it, with sleeves in a long time.  I ended up getting stopped about halfway up, and tried a second attempt, and got stopped again.  Just couldn't blast through it.  So, for punishment (out of frustration), I did a set of 20 reps.  I probably could've have gone a little heavier, but the last 5 reps were tough.  I haven't done these in years, and my legs/hips were sore within 10 minutes of the set.  Haven't felt sore like that after squats in a long time!  Might try working 20-reppers back in the routine for fun/something different.  :D
