SSP 8 x 18 #000 - 150 deg.

Took another cert. attempt at the SSP #000 and stalled-out on the crush.  I've gotten this shoe to this area a few times now, which I'll take, 'cause it keeps me in striking distance.  Several attempts too that never even got past 10 degrees.

Tried a braced snap with 1/2" stock for the first time.  Way harder then I was expecting.  For some reason (not reading closely enough), I thought this would be comparative to the rebar being used in the SS7 comp.  I went about 10-minutes, and just couldn't go any longer.  I'll probably try this again when I'm (hopefully) in better shape.

I pulled conventional deadlifts in briefs for the first time today.  Lately, I've been getting hip pain that doesn't seem to be going away.  Not necessarily from deadlifts (trap bar/conventional/sumo) but exasperated a little by them.  Briefs have always kept me healthier and injury-free pulling sumo.  But, I've always pulled raw for conventional.  It wasn't as bad as I thought, and I was able to get into pretty good position with the semi-tight briefs.  Didn't seem to help too much though off the floor.  Right now, my raw conventional is probably around 465-75.

SS7 - practice attempt (Open 2)

I made an unofficial attempt at SS7 today, just to get an idea of where I would be at, when I made an attempt at the Open 1 class.  I've been messing around with the lying snap for a few weeks and have had a lot of difficulty with positioning.  Today, though, the 60d nail was really easy.  The rebar too.  My issue seems to be conditioning, which is really not a surprise, as I don't really do anything for it.  Conditioning/cardio has always been the one thing over the years that I cannot seem to be consistent with.  There is always a lack-of-time for me under normal circumstances, but right now, I don't really have an excuse.  I have a mini-sled that I might start doing pulls with.

I was planning on getting 3 reps with the 475, but the first rep almost turned into a grinder, that I didn't even try a second.  Instead, I took another rep with 500, which was also a grinder.  Overall, felt tired and weak.

Finally got a 1/4 x 6" Grade 5 bolt snapped on my back.  Watching a lot of videos and experimenting with technique finally payed off with this.  Unfortunately this position aggravates my neck when I am pushing up to open the bolt on my side.  It's not debilitating, but definitely aggravating existing issues.  I will be making my first attempt at the Steel Shredder 7 contest very soon.

Squats have been feeling great lately.  All of my squats, unless noted with single-ply briefs are raw with Rehband knee sleeves.  I went a period of several years where I couldn't go above 350 raw without major knee and sometimes hip issues.

Tue (7/7)

Steel Shredder 7
Open Class A
Attempt 1: 6 min. 50 sec.

I was destroyed after this short bout of snapping!  Although I was happy to get the lying Grade 5 bolt snap, it was easier than I thought It'd be.  But the exhaustion was crazy after doing this.  I had to take almost a minute to get my breath after the lying snap.  I am definitely not in endurance shape anymore.  Going to try to work on this any cut my time down to sub.-5 minutes.
