Our power is still out.   This week's Red bend was another first: in a complete, multi-day outage.  They were projecting tonight, but it is now looking like it will be tomorrow night, which would make four days without power or heat, with a one- and three-year-old.  It wouldn't be that bad, but with the little ones, it has been a challenge.

The power is back on.  :D  Very, very happy to have some lighting for my bench reps today, and the heat is brining my gym back into the 50s.  Learned a lot from the past few days.  We are likely going to invest in a generator of some type too.  (We ended up losing all of our food.)

We had a bad ice storm a few days ago and our power has been out since Thursday night.  Today's squats were in the dark with a flashlight shining toward the power rack.

That's what's I'm talking about. I do my squats in the dark, it's the only way for true gainz

LOL  ... Thought it'd throw me off, but it was actually a pretty cool experience.

Wed (11/21)

Braced
5/8 x 30" (152k)
5/8 x 39" (187k) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qS_u2Z0Pnv8

The two bends today were for David Horne's Steel Shredder 4 comp.  I bought a rated bar from him several months back, which was brutal ... a ton harder than the typical HRS available to us in the U.S.  (David later said it was not HRS, which I wasn't aware of prior.)  The bar I tried back then @ 30" and failed to bend within the time limit was comparable to 24" HRS at the same diameter - probably even harder.  So, I really had no idea of what to expect with these new batches.

The first attempt was way too easy.  Bent very quickly and I realized that I miscalculated.  I waited about 10 minutes and tried the 187k bar, which was considerably harder, but still not as difficult as I was preparing for.  I was happy to bend this bar relatively easy, but irritated with myself I didn't cut it a few inches to get a higher rated attempt/bend in.

My single-ply briefs are about five years old and almost done with their usefullness.  I've had them tightened twice too.  On-and-off in about 2 seconds.  So, today, I tried to get into a pair I bought a few years back, which I had been saving for heavy, heavy singles.  This was when I was in the low 190s; now, I'm about 199-201.  They were pretty tight ... more tight, than can be useful, or at least with the amount of time I had to lift today.  I haven't tried these on in about 2 years either, so it was an eye-opener.  Not sure what I'm going to do ... either getting one size up or trying to stick with the smaller ones.

Since I've been working briefs back into my squats (after a long time raw-only), my hips and knees have been feeling better, so I will likely continue to deploy them, regardless if I do a single-ply or raw meet.

I normally don't do braced bar bending on consecutive days, but I am trying to build up some tolerance and get some reps in before I make my attempt for Steel Shredders 4.

I made the mistake today of bending a bar right before doing squats.  I knew during warmups, when I felt a tweak in my  lower-back that today's session could be iffy.  Nonetheless, I attempted to push through it and seemed to have aggravated my lower back area.  I was forced to take a lower weight on my top rep but probably should have cut the session short when I started to feel the twinge.

Thanks!  I have one 187 bar that I will probably try in a week-or-two.  Might cut it down a few inches from my last attempt.  I also have one of the 152 bars, but doubt I'd be able to get in the 20-22" range to be competitive.  I've done very little training with the shorter stock and it remains awkward for me.
