I was a little leery of bending another Red so soon after taking a finger in the eye, but put on some safety googles (a first) and took it down pretty good.

Sometimes just knowing that you wont be able to poke yourself in the eye (or hurt yourself in general) gets it out of your head so you can really hit hard.

Yeah, definitely.  My flexibility was never great, but not really an issue in the past.  The past few years, I am having more difficulty with it, and I'm taking longer overall to take the first hit, trying to get into a strong position.  I'm going to be getting some decent sports goggles soon and will likely be using them with most harder DO bends.  (This was with cheap Home Depot safety goggles ... very bulky and tough to see.)

I tried a braced bend with 1/2" stock for the first time today, which was awkward and definitely different then the thicker/longer 5/8.  The 18" bend was pretty easy, but I couldn't get a good position to sweep the 15" bar.  Maybe I'll mess around with some of the 1/2" shorter stuff too, but prefer the 5/8 and 3/4" (to a point).  First time in awhile I have touched the Hub and it felt pretty good.  Might have been able to go up to 62.5, possibly 65, but haven't worked pinch in months.

DU - doubles

Big Bastard - 33 deg.

Probably my best DU bend with the Big Bastard in the past few weeks, but starting to get frustrated with this.  I guess I should rest a few more days, and let my hands heal, but it is getting close.  Right before this, the Red was destroyed, probably close to 60 degrees in two quick hits.  I might start making a few attempts at other bars too, and give the Big a week-or-two off.

Braced Snap - WoG Wraps
3/8 x 12" HRS

I had an old 3/4" bar from 5-6 years ago and finally decided to put some movement in it.  I can't remember what my best bend with 3/4" stock was (before going up to 20mm), but I think it was right around here, maybe 35, and remember how tough it was.  I was happy to get 30 deg, and my legs were definitely not conditioned for the longer stock, and different starting position.  I'm not going to get anywhere where I was before with the 20mm but might buy some 3/4" stuff in the 40-range, and see what I can do.

The 3/8 x 12" snap was a PR and took about 8-9 minutes.  The thinner wraps seem to be helping with the snapping.  I think this was the first time I got a 3/8" bar under 9-10 minutes.  Amazing how Don and Kevin snapped this in ~ 2 minutes at the comp!

Where do you buy 20 mm steel? I have had trouble finding it. Thanks.

I got it from someone overseas way back in the day.  Yeah, I had a lot of trouble finding it too.  Don't think I ever found it in the U.S.

After the first hit on the Big Bastard, I thought I was going to get it today, but my left wrist felt off on the subsequent hits, so I had to dial back a little, and couldn't finish it.  Bent a 1/4 x 5" square right after this, and it felt ridiculously easy.

That is really great being so close to the big bastard. Not a lot of people on that cert list. You will have it real soon!

Thanks!  Going to keep hitting it until I can't.  I think the recent DU volume is starting to take it's toll with some minor-type injuries, which seem to be piling up lately.  Just gotta stay healthy long-term ... definitely don't want something to take me out of the game for good at this point.  My 10-year bending anniversary is coming up this fall.  😲

10 years! That’s great. Your longevity is impressive. And your DU is stronger than ever.
