you can also do the mm0 cert with the ghp 7.

How is it done?

Do I sign up for a cert like I would to cert coc3 on ironmind.com?

First gripper workout in a few months, I don't feel like I've lost too much strength.

great work on the MM1 replica. big jump from the 2.5. that 2.5 rated really low. makes me wonder where mine rates. the jump from my 2.5 to ghp6 seems huge. niether one are rated so the gap between the 2 may be more than the 10-15 lbs. i thought. oh well, doesn't change the fact that i still cannot get the 6.

Thanks man! Yeah, I have a ghp6 on order to help fill that gap.

Nice work. It looked closed before the camera moved in. Closed or not, that is a lot of progress.

How do you guys get the sets to look so smooth?

All the sets I see look buttery smooth and almost effortless. It feels like I am wrestling a wild animal every time I try to set a gripper.

For the set use this video (by Paul Knight): http://youtu.be/Qj9Ue9co4us At around the 4:30 minute mark he goes into exactly what you're asking. I think this video has been mentioned in this thread before, it's a great resource.

  • 2 weeks later...

I'm in for this. Finally back to training again after car accident and severe tendonitis left me completely out of it for almost two months. Haven't had a "real" gripper workout in probably three months. Chomping at the bit.

You bastards better tighten up. Video of recent close of 142# BBGM uploaded later tonight.

As promised two nights ago. Could not get it to upload until tonight.

Skip to 20 seconds. Beginning is my dumbass trying to show the wrong gripper handle for identification.

http://youtu.be/jHA2SZfWA-8

Was my third single rep, other closes not clear enough on video.

very nice. i think that's the strongest close we've seen in this thread. looked solid. can you close a 3?

I'm a bastard. Its official  but its going to take me a long time till I can make a close like that.

Lot's of people posting here, that's great! I guess it's a get-better-at-grippers thread on the 'grip'board. Rock on guys :mosher

Nice close. Do you have a gripper for the MM0? If it's rated, how much do you have to go?

Thanks for checking it out. I currently can not close the #3 I have. I tried a couple nights ago for the first time and I was about 3/8" away from a good close. It came in at a perfect 150#, but the spread is pretty wide which is going to make it more difficult. I think maybe if I finally used some chalk (never really do with grippers), I would be really close. Also, I usually use a set that is a little wider than parallel, prob 30-35mm, simply because it feels more comfortable to me and more in my power zone. I might could be a little closer on the 3 if I tightened up my set to closer to 20mm as well. I will definately work on these two things before I ever shoot for my MMO cert attempt.

I was very satisfied with these closes that night as I did four total singles trying to get a decently focused video. As I stated in my first post in this thread, this was really the first work I had done on grippers in about two months due to an injury from an auto accident, so I was really surprised by the results. I orginally closed this gripper for the first time ever in May and never really touched it again until now. Based on my past experiences, I seem to do better after extended layoffs of two weeks or more every once in a while.

I really needed this thread for motivation as my regularity and consistency in training leaves much to be desired. Maybe it's time I really started to focus and see what my real potential is.

Good luck to all in this thread.

Kyle

Thanks for checking it out. Thanks to Mike Sharkey for starting this thread. I wouldn't work this hard without it.
