i'm sure if you get to that level your injury potential gets much higher because of the extreme tension being exerted on your tendons... it wouldn't surprise me if some of these guys are fighting injuries.. not to be presumptious - but many of these guys haven't posted anything in a while so who knows

True, but I think that also very connected with your rate of progression. If you're progressingly slowly but steadily (and of course grippers can be verrry slow) then youve likely built yourself up against such injuries along the way. But if you're progressing quickly, you're more at risk for injury, especially in that range. These guys got there pretty fast right? That probably has something to do with it.

Yeah he was awesome...no sure where Gabriel has gone, maybe other priorities...he was close to a #4 ccs, I wonder what happeved to him?

He injured himself very badly doing negatives from what i know on his youtube channel there are videos with him doing recovery warkouts.

Gabriel sum was 21 when he certed on the 3.5. What ever happened to him? Left handed also which I believe is harder regardless if your left or right handed.

He uploaded this thing 4 weeks ago. I think he will be back just as strong.

Why doesn't holle post on here or do any grip contests? Or possibly climb the MM ladder? He could go past the mm7 level. Just seems strange to me when people post videos of world class feats but don't really show what they got in contests. I guess I would compare it to seeing someone deadlift 1klbs on video but never compete in a power lifting competition. It naturally makes me a little concerned even though I'm 99% sure he is as strong as we believe.

When we are young we strive for the admiration of our peers. To be in the spot light, to pit ourselves against others, show what we can do. As we get older, we begin to realize that none of that matters. Just working to be better then you were yesterday, being the best dad, husband, and friend you can be, and helping others to learn the lessons that training the body teach, becomes the reason behind training. It took me a long time to learn that, but many of the strongest guys out there already know it. I would be willing to bet that garage or basement walls have been the only witnesses to some of the strongest grip lifts no one knows about. I can think of a few guys could most likely climb the MM ladder or GHP, but probably never will. Young Rob Vigeant is one that comes to mind right away...

Given his age and strength at this time, I'm tipping Jonathan to have the strongest crush of all time.

But no matter how you define "strongest" someone has closed a harder gripper???

No doubt he is beast with tons of potential.

really well said Rick... and that may factor in why some people train grip purely for intrinsic reasons and don't really care to be recognized for their achievements... others enjoy the fun that progression and competition brings - like me

as far as some of these elite guys never really showcasing their talent on video, I think I'm starting to understand that. I'm sure everyone has a different reason, but I've found that personally, as a beginner, trying to get the angles just right in order to record a "legit" gripper close can be really frustrating. I don't know if it's a matter of being camera shy, or putting my arm and hand in an unnatural position (for me), but I can barely close anything when I'm specifically trying to make a gripper video.

it's to the point where I'm not really improving my grip strength in order to try and prove that I can close a particular gripper to arbitrary specifications. I mean I've even caught a few PRs on video just screwing around having my wife film me. but it was just us having fun with no intent of impressing anyone (but her of course) or obtaining any sort of certification. I was just working out and decided to ask her to film a bit of it.

so I get that. I'm to the point where I'm not worried about the MM0 or GHP 7 or even the IM #3 certifications for now. I'm just trying to get stronger for my own benefit and enjoyment.

so I dunno, maybe it's something similar with some of these guys. except they've already proven everything to their own satisfaction, and they're just getting stronger for their own enjoyment now.

I'm expecting him to overtake Nathan holle:)

Just a fun guess.

Most are getting stronger because that is all they know. The guys who trully enjoy it and live for it will be doing it until they are placed in the ground.

That's the plan :)
