That Bartos bell looks pretty cool

It was pretty huge, 2.5 ft long, 1ft wide.  I uploaded a few images, its supposed to be a old time circus challenge bell replica

Looks really similar to the circus bell I made with 12" globes. I'll see if I can find a pic.

Mine ended up 165# plus I've got 1" cap screws in the ends to add additional weight.

Holy crap that's awesome!!!  How did you make that???

Used 12" hemispheres and filled with cement based grout so there was no shrinking. I'll attach a series of pics.

What did the gym employee do to stop you?

Also, I don't feel I've seen this gym before. Where are you living and training now?

She walked by and said "could you make any more noise"  I wasn't shouting or grunting either.  The gym is Southside Athletic in burnsville MN, formerly known as Southside Bully.  Justin Mcgloughlin or however you spell it goes there now too

Slow on the updates lately.  Trying to keep my training under wraps for nationals just in case I have a decent chance of placing... we will see.  Anyway, main movements are 13" axle deadlifts, wide grip pulldowns, dumbbell benching various angles, plate stack front holds, yoke carry or picks, keg keg stone medley speed work, back & front squat variations, circus dumbbell pressing, and husafell carry.  Will make a training compilation vid at the end of all this!

When is nationals? Sorry I haven't messaged you yet about that program you sent me. This new job is kind of wrecking havoc on my back, just due to the odd times and not beign able to take meds.

When is a good time to call you?

  • 1 month later...

Alright time to log a workout for the first time in a while.  Got done with nationals this weekend and ended up bleeding points and finishing 10th of 60 some folks in my weight class.  I've identified a few weaknesses and it's time for me to fix them so I can get the placings I know I can earn if I put my best on the table.  I'll put some links up to the vids I took soon along with some notes.

Monday 10/31/16

Axle Clean & Press (clean once, press away - cadence and down commands)

35 x 5

85 x 3

125 x 1

175 x 1

195 x 1

200 x 17 in 60 seconds, had to drop and cleaned once more but missed the 18th attempted rep and time expired.  Probably a Rep PR

Landmine Row (counting plate weight loaded to end of bar only)

45 x 5

90 x 3

135 x 1

150 x 12 x 2 L&R

150 x 10 L&R

Band Pullapart (30 sec rest between sets)

Orange x 20, 14, 15

EZ Bar Curl

65 x 5

95 x 12 x 3

Barbell Reverse Forearm Curl

65 x 55, 35, 35

Congrats on 10th, Matt! I know it must have been insanely competitive. Sounds a lot like USAPL Raw Nats-almost 1100 lifters!  I always knew Raw would make the sport so much more appealing.

Lookin forward to seeing some vids!
