Hahaha well it looked fun when I checked it out on youtube!  I would need to work on endurance and get some ninja training in too ;)

Good lifting on the stones, nice to see them here to.

Thanks, I appreciate it!  Stones are one of my favorite things to train since getting into strongman :)

200 meters on the concept 2 rower - 1st round got it in 35 seconds, 2nd round got it in 34 seconds

Arnold Classic World Amateur Championships:  Overall Placing 14th out of 26

Event 1: Log Clean & Press 300lbs for reps in 60 seconds

-managed to get a rep which I was happy with seeing that is my 2nd best press with a log ever.  Got close to a second rep but not close enough.  This put me in 18th

Event 2: Beast Metals Frame Carry 650lbs for 60ft

-dropped at 22ft, weight was light for the back and legs but those handles are unforgiving and slid right out.  This put me in 19th.

Event 3: Axle 5"Deficit Deadlift 600lbs for reps in 60 seconds (they added another inch mat below the two x 2" mats)

-got 3 reps, first rep forgot to tighten my lever belt.  this is a normal deadlift PR for me.  This put me in a 3 way tie for 5th.

Event 4: Carry Medley 240,260 Keg & 275 Sandbag all taken 60ft

-my left quad was hit by the log in warmups and locked up, but still got through this pretty good.  Was placed 6th this event

Congrats on the Arnold Matt. I tried to find a live feed of it but I could only find one that was paid. And the Arnold website does not do a good job of posting results and such.  Finally found some random guy in a message board taking pictures of the scorecards.

Really happy for you. Whether you are happy or not, realize that thousands of people tried to qualify for this event and you were one of the select few to get to go. That wasn't based on anything except your hardwirk and you proving you could hang with anyone.

That's great dude! Ahem, your "grip" gave out on the frame.... :D

Kidding man! Awesome getting anywhere with those lifts.

Thanks Dylan, I was counting on that frame carry going better but looks like I'll have to do some specific training for those handles since this is the second time they've given me trouble!  I appreciate the support man, you would have loved it there just so many famous people in the fitness community... I met people ranging from triple H to dexter jackson, and I also got to shake hands with Bill Kazmaier!

Haha I know I know... I have to do a little more in that area!  Are there any grip events which carryover well to most grip feats?  Or do you have to train specifically for that event?

I think just getting really strong with an axle and barbell has huge general carryover to most "grip" events.

Matt, if I could perform only one grip exercise it would be thick bar. One handed revolving apparatus.

Watched that log press again. The whole thing looked really easy for you.

Great to see you where at the arnolds, you displayed some strong feats congrats. That log was a thick one, maybe even more than 12 1/5".
After seeing this I really want to pick up strongman again.

I'm thinking Axle for the thickbar training, just because I may need the grip in strongman anyway!  Today I put the axle on high pins in the rack and did a two handed hang for time followed by single arm hangs with a normal powder coated rogue chin-up bar.

Thanks man, it felt good on that first rep so I was going to try again at 40 seconds left.  My original plan was to wait until 15 seconds remaining and go for that double, with my 20/20 hindsight I should have stuck with the original plan haha.

Thank you, I gave it all I had!  I'm pretty confidant that log was at least 12" too, it was an easier clean but a harder press since it puts you off center more.  Strongman keeps things interesting and I enjoy such a wide variety of events, I hope you decide to give it another shot! :)
