Chez
Started the day at my school gym. Did some time on the bike and elliptical followed by calf raises and Ab work. Come back home for thick bar and wrist training. Rolling Thunder 103.5 lbs = 5 lifts each hand 128.5 lbs = 3 lifts each hand 138.5 lbs = 1 lift each hand 153.5 lbs = 1 lift each hand 161 lbs = 1 lift each hand 166.5 lbs = 1 lift each hand 171 lbs = 1 lift each hand. PR Right hand! 174 lbs = 1 lift left hand. PR Left hand! - Making some progress with the RT. Need to keep improving. A man my size should be doing 200lbs+. This has always been a tough lift for me. Ghetto Axle ( 1 7/8 inch PVC pipe over the bar) 214 lbs = 3 Sets of 8 reps. Really hot in the garage so I'm sweating like a pig. Levering with home made lever bar 10 lbs = 3 sets of 10 reps with each hand Sup/Pron (with my forearm resting on my thigh. Harder than on the floor since the weight stays in the air and I have to stop it) 7.5 lbs = 3 sets of 10 reps with each hand
bubba29
nice job on the RT. the equality of the strength in both your hands is amazing. my off hand seems way behind. are you ambidextrous?
Chez
nice job on the RT. the equality of the strength in both your hands is amazing. my off hand seems way behind. are you ambidextrous? Thanks dude. I try really hard to train both hands as intensely. If I ever run a comp, I want to contest both hands on grippers and both hands on RT (If I pick that over axle) because I don't people hiding their off hand. Not ambidextrous though. My left hand has poor coordination.
Chez
Started my second summer internship today. Got home and ate and then ran to my school gym and downed an energy drink. No excuses, play like a champion. Lifting Today. Seated Barbell Overhead Press Warm up 45 lbs = 10 reps 95 lbs = 10 reps Working 155 lbs = 3 sets of 5 reps 115 lbs = 1 set of 8 reps Assisted Chin-up Machine (uses a counter weight to make chin-ups easier 70 lb counter weight = 1 sets of 10 reps 70 lb counter weight = 3 sets of 8 reps - Going to slowly reduce the counter weight as I get better at these. Leg Press (Suppose to do squats but my back is sore from yesterday and I have to be smart and listen to my body) - Weight only includes the plates and not the weight of the empty sled since I don't know how much it weighs. Warm up 270 lbs = 10 reps 360 lbs = 5 reps Working 450 lbs = 5 reps 500 lbs = 2 sets of 5 reps 360 lbs = 8 reps Note: I was dead tired going to the gym but I maned up and it turned into a nice workout. I'm playing basketball with friends on Wednesday since my ankle is better. Going to bring some grip stuff for people to try. I'm going to continue and try to get more guys involved. 2 of these guys have shown interest. I have already planted the seed of a possible future comp . Chez
Great training sessions this morning. I went to John's house (wojo) and we trained for the world's strongest hands events. It always great training with a fellow gripster. I didn't write down everything but I remember the highlights. Vulcan V2 - Got Level 17 with a 20MM block set very easily. I should have no problem with this at the actual comp. - I tried level 18 with a MMS set and came pretty close. Making progress. Definitely my best attempt at this level so far. I really want this at the comp. I'm hoping adrenaline will push me over the edge Reverse Bending in IMPS Nothing special here. I did a 60D galvanized timber tie and Grade 2 Bolt both with one hit well best 40 degrees. I tried a 60D galvanized nail but I didn't have it in me today and I didn't want to push the reverse bending since it really beats up my hands. Bending by far takes me the longest to recover from. Rolling Thunder Big PR here. I got 175 in plates. People tell me that the Olympic loading pin, clip and handle weigh 7 lbs together (please correct me if this is wrong) so I got about 182 in total. Super happy to finally break 180lbs. Seeing great improvement on the RT lately. Ghetto Stub 37.5 lbs only counting plates. We used the Olympic Loading pin which weighs more than my standard one though. Probably still not as good as my PR last Thursday of 41.5 lbs plates and standard pin. Random training I lifted a 45 lb hex with both hands easy. 40lbs in plates on the new IM hub (I really need to improve on this. I suck at hub lifts. Should be getting one for my B day). We simulated a 2 inch V bar using the Olympic loading pin and I think I went up to 210 in plates. Levered a 8 lb sledge to the face (first time trying this). At the end of everything I was still able to CCS my #3 no problem and I also closed John's #2.5 TNS even though my hands were fried. Might be forgetting something but you get the idea. daniel reinard
Dude wicked workout. Mock comp training days are fantastic. You got the crush for L18 if you get the set down. That's easy practice to do a few times a week. The WD is like reverse bending but I feel I can get alot of my upper body weifht into the bend, more than 6" nail bends. When you see that WD try to get that big upper body on top of the bend. Once you do you should feel even the abs help pulling down on the bend. You're gonna do great bro. I can't wait to see how you and John do.
