Chez vs The MM8: Whatever it takes

Chez

Recommended Posts

Congrats on the level 17 and the CCS with your own #3! And left is catching up very good! The MM2 will be

in your pocket off hand.

Thanks buddy. Level 17 wasn't much of a jump from level 16. Probably going to have to micro load my way up to level 18 in small increments.

Oh man. Went out in NYC for St. Patrick's day yesterday. Ended up playing beer pong (I played with wine since I have the gluten allergy) with my girl and some friends. Yes, sadly I am 28 years old haha. Definitely drank a lot so I gotta stick with water for a few days to detox. I hit light Pinch on Friday but fell asleep before posting to the log. Thanks guys. I had a fun weekend with a family party and going out with my girl. This morning I hit thick bar training with my friend. I also got an email from ironmind and they told me they have a judge lined up for my COC #3 Certification!

DO Ghetto Axle (1 7/8 inch PVC pipe slipped over a 1 inch bar. Harder than the IM axle)

Warm up

164 lbs = 8 reps

220 lbs = 4 reps

260 lbs = 2 reps

275 lbs = 2 reps

290 lbs = 1 rep

310 lbs = 1 rep with a hold at the top

315 lbs = 1 rep with a hold at the top. brand new PR on this setup! :D I felt I had some more in me but held back because I didn't want to push it too much. I'm always cautious with low back exercises. I want 360 + at nationals on a real IM axle.

After this we hit biceps and called it a day.

Note: Going to incorporate my brand new Elite 5/8" in my next workout which will be TSG. Can't wait to destroy the MM2 Off-hand when it gets here.

That's some very solid gripper training Cesare! I think you'll smash the MM2 with your off hand.

I think Chez will be a great open class competitor at Nats. And his gripper close will probably be the one to beat. Just a prediction.

Thanks guys. The training gives me much needed stress relief and something to look forward to everyday. I did a little arm wrestling training last night and loved it. I'm looking forward to you pushing me on Grippers Daniel. We both need to bust into the 180s.

Same here bud. Grip is an easy getaway from stress. I'm just trying to keep up to you on grippers. Do you own any 178-185 grippers? I can't wait to see what the L8 I have cals at. And I have a sweet BBSE rated at 179 coming soon. That MM3 needs to go down this year bro.

The grippers that I need to conquer next in my collection are my MM3 replica (I missed it by a hair in front of Paul Knight right after closing the GHP 8), My COC #3.5 (I think its a hard one because even Paul missed it lefty) and my brand new Super Elite. None are rated but I rank my grippers on feel. I might bring all the ones I got to nationals and pass them to Chris Rice to rate them since I will be focusing on the Vulcan after that comp to get ready for world's strongest hands. As soon I cert on the COC #3, I going to be focusing on heavy MMS for the MM3 cert and nationals.

Dam I'm tired. Since I had my MM2 Off Hand Cert attempts today, I decided to train crush grip around it. My Ironmind judge contacted me and told me he works only about 25 mins away so the #3 cert is going down next week. I mixed some Vulcan V2 in around my MM2 off hand attempts.

Right Hand - Used the Vulcan V2

Warm Up

L 3 = 10 reps

L 6 = 3 reps

L 9 = 1 rep

L 12 = 1 rep

Working

Singles

L 14 - L 17 = All good singles. Level 17 is getting easy. Check the video below

L17 + 1 White IM band on top notches = missed. Held the level 17 before for a long time so I didn't enough in the tank.

Doubles

L 13 - L 15 = All good doubles

Triples

L 13 = L 15 = All good triples

Left hand

Started with TSG to get ready for the MM2 attempts

Warm up

COC #1 = 10 parallel reps

COC #2 = 3 parallel reps

COC #2.5 = 1 MMS rep

MY #3 = 1 MMS rep

Working

Took all 3 attempts with the MM2 and almost blacked out on the 3rd attempt . Just gotta watch and see what the judges think

Vulcan V2 work (Took it easy on my left after the MM2 attempts).

Warm up

L 6 = 3 reps

L 9 = 1 rep

L 11 = 1 rep

Big congrats man, moving into pretty elite territory now!!

Thanks Pat! The big cert is coming up next week. There is something so great about setting a goal and working hard to achieve it. No matter what happens next week, I will be a COC eventually.

Chez - does IM have a date picked out too? or does their witness set the day/time/location with you?

Next week! Whoa! This is getting for real now bro. You know the location allready?

I just posted on the board, but also congrats on the MM2 Cesare, you are a strong dude. Give 'em hell next week! No room for thinking you might not succeed, with the MM2 lefty and right owned, you are definitely a lieutenant of crush, you'll get the rank of captain, it's a matter of time, preferably next week :)

I have been in contact with the judge. Right now its planned for April 7th which is a Saturday. I actually found out he works really close to me though so we may do it during the week to save travel time since he lives further away. I need to find a camera person to. My sister is usually my camera person for my MM certs but shes very close to giving birth to her 4th child so she can't travel. I told IM that next week was best for me since its my spring break. They were great about finding a judge for that week who was close by and sent me his email.
