Hope it all works out for you bud.

Heck, if I can get it to last another 10 years, that's probably 5 longer than I'll live.  🤣

My wifey had that hip shot and I watched.  Dont recommend the actual watching, but its bought her eight years so far.

Glad you're gonna work around it.  A lot of people would just hang it up.  The world needs some Rindo.  :)

The Celebrex seemed to help last night.  Much less pain when laying down.  🤞

My boys love farmers walks too! I have farmers coming up in my next training block. Haven't done them since before my injury. Hoping to finally walk 300/hand this year. I'd offer to race you but I don't want to be responsible for your hip blowing apart 😉

Mike, is it any less painful with higher reps?

Honestly,  it's more painful afterwards than during.  Higher reps, lighter weight less so.  Those farmers walks the other day killed me for 3 days.

Had some time this morning and did a little benchin for the first time in 6 weeks.  Lost some strength for sure, but was able to do 185 for a 5x5 without having to completely grind the 25th rep.  Yates rows, followed by 3 hours of yardio.  Happy 4th everyone!

Physical therapy for my hip this morning.  She lulled me into a false sense of security with some stretching and a nice deep quad massage, then turned into Josef Mengele and tortured me for 30 minutes.

Physical therapy for hip Friday

4 mile walk with family Saturday morning.  Bad Idea.  Hip was not happy

Before breakfast to try n beat the heat.  Didn't work.  88° and 65% humidity in the shed.

Bench:

205: 5,5;  195: 5, 5;  185: 5

Band press downs: 5 step drop set of 5 reps each.

Band soulder work

Yates rows: 185 for a 5x5.  5 second pause and contraction on last rep.

Band curls: 5 step drop set of 5 reps each.

Now yardio.

Hip update:

X-ray guided cortisone shot did nothing

Physical therapy made it worse, but did let them figure out that I probably have a torn labrum in addition to the bad arthritis

Went to doc today.  Canceled PT going forward and scheduled me for an MRI next Thursday.  Doing a 3T MRI to get a good look at the cartilage and confirm whether I have the torn labrum.  Unfortunately my company went to high deductible / out of pocket insurance plans, so the mri is another $800 on top of all the doctor and pt costs.

Then I meet with the surgeon to determine if it makes sense to try arthroscopic surgery to repair the torn labrum or if they just do the hip replacement because the cartilage is too much of a mess.

So no good news.  Looks like surgery of one sort or the other is only remedy left.  Unfortunately my company made me use all my pto during covid slow times and I decided not to pay for the short term disability plan this year at work.  So if they have to replace it, I'm going to have to grit my teeth and try to make it until January or I'm screwed.  Have tried celebrex, ibu, tylenol and naproxen.  Almost no relief if any.  Maybe some placebo effect.  🤷‍♂️

Anyway, hoping they can fix it with arthroscopy.  Would only miss a week or two of work.  If they replace it, I'm out 6-8 weeks with no pay.  Fun fun fun.

To say I'm depressed would be an understatement.

Thanks Nate.  Sucks bawls.  Back of my mind, I wonder if years of bending shoes right on that spot every day was a factor.  Probably not, but it has crossed my mind.

Dang man. I’m sorry to hear that. Have you heard of prolotherapy? Might work and be a lot cheaper.
