1st Annual Woodall Grip Challenge 2009

Too Tall

Recommended Posts

I have sent out a few special invites to this comp...but I am opening it to anyone that has finished "Top 1 or 2" in any grip competition(large hand or small hand comps included). There are some BIG CASH prizes and I want there to be a strong group of guys pushing each other for the top 3.

These are some of my favorite events...and I will be competing.

Let me know in this thread if you are interested(other than the ones I have already invited) and what comp you placed 1 or 2 in.

If you have questions about events...just send me a PM.

Thanks,

Chad Woodall

Wow, I barely qualify (2nd at gripmas!) but I would have to hit this if I was nearby.

Too many contests, too little money!

What exactly is a certified check, bro?

Jedd - a Certified check is something you buy at a bank. It is guaranteed by the bank itself - like a Money Order. Basically - they don't bounce like some personal checks might.

guess I won't be winning any prize money, but it will still be fun! especially if Steve makes it cause all the trash talk will make me laugh :trout

I don't like the medley idea. If this event is kept in there it needs to be clearly defined ahead of time to be fair.

I'm assuming your concern is the bending part of it Wade - I may be wrong, but I think the only bending part of the medley is one Red Nail and I think you can use leather wraps, but I'll let Chad confirm. I don't think the Medley will give you many probs even if you choose not to bend, cause you'll porbably nail everything else

First issue is my accent - British and with a touch of Cockney thrown in. Then there is Vigant. He does trash talk better than anyone I know.

I don't like the medley idea. If this event is kept in there it needs to be clearly defined ahead of time to be fair.

Medley:

1. 2HP - wt TBA

2. 2-45’s Pinch

3. 6-10’s welded together

4. Blob 50

5. Fat Hex 50

6. 100# Anvil from top (about 4”)

7. Hub 45’s wide and narrow

8. 3-25’s

9. Inch DB

10. 2” DB - wt TBA

11. 3” DB - wt TBA

12. IM Apollon’s Axel - wt TBA

13. 7” IM Red Nails (one in the middle and one at the end)

14. Phone Book (vertical tear)

15. RT (it will be the new IM handle) – wt TBA

16. IM Little Big Horn on IM loading pin - wt TBA

17. Fat Bastard Bomb on IM loading pin – wt TBA

You can go in any order you want...and mix it up. You will have 3 minutes. Most objects win.

****There will be 3 more TBA…but this will give you the idea. Also, there will not be anything in the medley that I cannot pick up on a good day…if this helps.

****Also, I will be using strongman scoring for the entire contest.

Not liking medleys and from that list if I make it I'll probably only do half of it.

You got to train for it Big Steve...you got over 3 months.

Indeed. But I've two events between now and then (Peter Horne day and the British is only a few weeks before). I train too often and very hard now. So in reality I'd have 3-4 weeks after the British to add some extras in.

From the list here's what I'd struggle on:

Medley:

1. 2HP - wt TBA

2. 2-45’s Pinch Never done it.

3. 6-10’s welded together

4. Blob 50

5. Fat Hex 50

6. 100# Anvil from top (about 4”) No idea how this would go. Is it two handed?

7. Hub 45’s wide and narrow Possible.

8. 3-25’s

9. Inch DB

10. 2” DB - wt TBA

11. 3” DB - wt TBA

12. IM Apollon’s Axle - wt TBA

13. 7” IM Red Nails (one in the middle and one at the end) Never bent one.

14. Phone Book (vertical tear) Never done it.

15. RT (it will be the new IM handle) – wt TBA

16. IM Little Big Horn on IM loading pin - wt TBA

17. Fat Bastard Bomb on IM loading pin – wt TBA

2 45s you could do Steve. Your 20kg plates are wide and slippery, and don't hold chalk that nicely. Look at the thin ones martin used in his latest vid you'd lift them easily.

6 10s - big hands mate no excuses here!

hub 45 - i did this years ago, again your plates are quite hard to do this with. with tat's plates i curled, snatched them by the hub etc... you'll do this easily

red nail - fair enough. this one might give you some trouble - you are too big to get your hands up underneath your chin do it double overhand.

anvil - train it with your IM little big horn.

There's a little big horn in the medley (look dear boy ha ha). It's a different lift.

I saw it. I assumed (wrongly) that the anvil was to be lifted by the horn ;) i take it it's a 100# wide pinch then?
