Injured Index Finger

Hi,

This forum is #### good. Therefore I hope you can help me

with my problem. After a rather long layoff I did some one-

arm hangs from a chinup bar and since then I have pain in

the base and the second joint of the index finger. After a

day or so it´s gone and occurs again, if I´m done with my

grip training (no more one-arm hangs in the near future).

What can I do to prevent serious injury and how do I condition my finger so it can handle heavy weights?

Thanx

Pinchgrip,

it looks like youre enthusiasm got the

better of you,i injured my finger a couple of weeks

back doing finger lifts.if i have learned one thing its

that your hands take longer to warm up than other

bodyparts. work youre way around the injury if you

can,try avoid things that pull directly on your injured

hand.some of the guys on the board run there hands

under warm water to get the circulation going before

a workout this may help a little.

 woody.

Pinchgrip,

I agree with wooody about your hands taking longer to warm up. I've definitely found that my workouts go the best whenever I run my hands under warm/hot water for a minute or so.

As far as conditioning your finger to handle heavy weights, just be sure you don't start out with heavy weights in the beginning. Build your way up with lesser weights until you are sure you can handle something heavier with no pain.
