Quite a collection of grippers you got there Jörg. I'm envious :D

I'm desperately looking for grippers in the 160's range. Very difficult to find.

Thanks! Yes this range is very difficult to find! I had a 167 Elite but sold it. Filed COC 3‘s are an option but not perfect.

Yes filed grippers are good to train with sometimes but I don't like to do it. I have to make setting blocks in many different sizes first so I know I close from the right distance.

At what point is filing the handle worthwhile?  I can easily close my 1.5 for multiple reps but can’t close my 2 yet.  I am going to get them rated but am unsure if filing is useful at this level.

I say file grippers immediately if you can close them for reps. Even just a small amount can help.

When you go for an unfiled goal gripper, you’ll have some extra oomph in case the handle slips a little or something.  Or if you bungle the set a little.

Maybe... any I have seen recently were very high 190s or over 200.

I got my ratings back from Cannon:

68 #0.5
81 Filed #1
95 Filed #1.5
108 #2
126 #2.5

According to their Average Ratings Data, I may have the hardest 1.5 on the planet. 😎

Remember the data doesn’t include filed grippers though. Yours was likely 88-89 prior to filing. 🤗

I need some more to bridge the gap between the 2.5 and 3 as I'm not going to use that prototype. If anyone see Cannon post a 135, 140, 145 let me know. ;)

Rated my grippers with my rgc. Some grippers are rated previously by CPW or Jedd. Im happy to see im close to other calibrations, with exception of the SM. Also surprised some one of the #3’s came in so low(146). It has a great spread ~79mm

The RB gripper also feels different from the COC’s, the last 5-10 mm felt much tougher.

Wow, that's a pretty big discrepancy for the SM. Wonder what caused it.

Yes, I know. Could be Im new to rating grippers, but the other grippers turned out so close to other ratings made.

Maybe oiling the spring would have made a difference?

Anyone else experience wide grippers coming in low in rating?

Yeah, sounds a little strange. From what I understand, oiling does make a difference, but if anything it shouldn't add the the RGC. Plus, if I'm not mistaken CPW oils gripper springs before they're rated too. Either way, the guy to ask would probably be @Cannon

There's no way that SM should be 140 (based on your other numbers) because I've trained with it a lot. Probably some error when taking the measurment, try again! :)

And yes, the springs should always be lubricated before measurment.

Thanks for chiming in Fist of Fury!

I did it twice before, but I’ll do it again when spring is lubricated. I will also do the 134 #2,5 again.

Was the #2.5 the one you bought of me? I would guess that one at 128-130 based on how it felt compared to other rated grippers I've had.

By the way I had a similar problem when I was doing some RGC'ing as well. Some grippers I rated were exactly like Cannon's ratings and some were much higher for some reason (that I never figured out).

For the ones that rated higher, which RGC did they feel like in training?

Yes, that’s the one I bought from you.

Intresting you experienced the same. Well I might get lower numbers next time.

Sorry I don't understand you question.

I've only trained with rated grippers in that range. All from CPW. Only exception being the #2.5 that Griparn has now.
