Guest Michael Rabich
1919 Goerner performs a snatch with crossed arms, left hand over right hand with 231.25 lbs Does it mean he was using mixed grip as in deadlift on a snatch or a one arm snatch with the other hand merely balncing it as in pullup? Is this the best lift on record in such a lift?
Roark
Michael, I have three copies of Goerner The Mighty; someplace, but not at hand. (Got that ref out of my data base) Much of my library is packed away at the moment. From memory (uh-oh!) I recall that he placed his left hand over his right hand, probably with little distance between them, then simply snatched the weight in the normal style while not allowing the arms to 'untangle' or the barbell to 'twirl'. Both hands were on the barbell bar. Perhaps someone can add to this? The info is on page 54 of the book.
