amaury
Does a 2:1 barrier exist (I just read this in the above post, does this exist for non juiced dudes?)? According to Joe Roark (strength historian, member of this board) it is very hard to go beyond that ratio. I guess it is based on statistics he collected. I also don't think Joe ever evoked 'performance enhancement drugs' when he made this statement, i added it
Guest Bonzi
As jw7 mentioned "body mass", this is why I wanted originally to have a BMI or Waist measurment factored into this discussion. Maybe we can add Biceps size as a relevant data point later. In a perfect world, assumed for this discussion, there would be only NATURAL participants, per amaury's post. Also, the missing measurements on Coc#3 and twig and others would help us to get a clearer picture of these relationships. -------------------------FArm/Wrist----Wrist---FArm---Waist--Gripper Closed----------------------Hand Size---- Coc#3-----------------1.939-------8.25---16.00---????---?????---------------------------------???? twig------------------1.933-------7.50---14.50---????---RB 210(Table No Set)------------------8.00 HellMagic-------------1.885-------6.10---11.50---32.7---COC #2.5------------------------------???? No offense to others, but just my guess from the numbers and assuming a committment to grip training. I made this forecast looking at their waist, wrist and forearm measurements. BTW, I think that Age, if used in the equation, would make little to no difference on the outcomes. P.S. I am not an actuary by trade and don't even play one on TV. bowermdw@yahoo.com
Bonzi, Since I included my LH stats should I have taken the average of my left and right arms? Also, I am left handed. I have always worked for more strength in my RH because of handshaking. My left hand can do other things that my right hand cannot. It has better dexterity, can extend with more strength, and the pinky is more useful and strong. Because I just got back into grip training after more than 5 years away my strength is gaining. At the end of July the COC #1 was 8 for RH and 6 for LH. And I'm diversifying my exercises more everyday. I like this thread. CoC#3
Out of curiousity...This thread was me wondering the following: Are the dimensions of the forearms influenced more by the size of the wrist? Or is the upper arm the determining factor for "mazimum size"? In other words, what actually (if anything) limits the amount of growth for the forearms? I understand that overal body mass is a determining factor, but I have seen (as I'm sure others have) guys with huge arms from shoulder to hand while not being overall large dudes. So is there something that will slow down those who are seeking bigger stronger forearms (like me )? Or is it just a matter of training to break down the "wall"? Does a 2:1 barrier exist (I just read this in the above post, does this exist for non juiced dudes?)? Just got me thinking... P.S. Sam's above mentioned ni 2:1 ratio (huge arms by the way ) started my thinking. Interesting. I'm sure many juiced trainees can exceed this. Lee Priest easily exceeds 2:1. If you are heavier your forearms will be bigger. Mine would probabaly be around 18'' if i got to 300lbs, for example. So in that case i think i could exceed 2:1 (maybe) but a lot of the added weight would be fat. At the moment i weigh about 245lbs.

hab34buy
Okay... so going into this much detail may be crazy obsessive, but we're all kinda crazy about grip stuff so what does it matter . Besides, I have actually wondered about what percentage of the hand other "gripsters" have for fingers versus palm. I mean, information like this is never to be used as an excuse for not being strong anyway... but it does satisfy curiousity. Doing that's never tooo much of a waste I think... Well anyway, here are my numbers if Bonzi is interested in adding this column: Once again Hand: 7.19 (checked again, still small , only larger if I cheat measure ) Palm: 4.13 (wrist crease to middle finger crease) Fingers: 3.06 (middle finger crease till end) To make life easier--> Palm%:0.57 Finger%:0.43 All numbers are rounded for ease. ~Jw By the way... great work on the table Bonzi. I find this thread very interesting. If you want to leave out finger/palm, no prob. Just ignore above Edited August 16, 2007 by jw7
