Nice work, Mikael! These v-bar lists, as well as the pinch list, are a huge inspiration for my training as the Show of Hands contest approaches.

By the way, I discovered that, unfortunately, not all post offices allow grip guys to use their scales for silly things like weighing two hundred pounds of cast iron plates. I was told I could use the one out in the lobby that goes to 28 pounds, but I'm still searching for a way to scale out my 35s and 45s.

Eric, digital wrestling scales are calibrated to within tenths of accuracy. I know almost every team i've wrestled for has their scales calibrated. Usually on the digital readout there's a large sticker marked the date and inspector info and when it was calibrated. A college wrestling team would absolutely have a calibrated one and I think would be more than happy to let you weigh plates.

I hadn't thought of that. Good idea.

Eric,

Make sure the one they let you use was calibrated. PLease also note the margin or error of that particular scale.

Arthur and Nick rented one for about $ 55 AUD.

Thanks Ben, it was not easy. :blink

After April 1, we will be able to add more Americans to the list (the Texas competition). It will probably take a 500lbs plus total, if not 550, to get on the top 50 list by the end of the year.

That doesn't sound too bad really. I was thinking more along the lines of 575 or 600 later next year to be top 50.

Is it Normal to be Very Hit and miss in the V-Bar? im always ither pullign big wieghts or failign at light weight.

Not if you are experienced.

Huge variations in performance in vbar is almost always related to pain factors. The vbar can be a painful lift if you have not conditioned your skin.

I recently resumed my vbar training after a three weeks break and I could not believe the pain. Three weeks of rest from lifting was enough to transform a very resilient skin to baby skin level.

When you have conditioned your skin and learned to set the bar in a good spot the variations in strength from one day to another are very small, at least in my case.

How come the GGC vbar totals have been left off this list?

The GGC did not require for both both hands, only one. This list does not apply to the GGC. There is another Top 50 that does include the GGC guys.

Yes, this list is for competitions in which both hands were contested in full. With the GGC rules you have very little to loose by going all out with the non-dominant hand in an attempt to equal your best list with the other hand. There is no major penalty for bombing out with the non-dominant hand. Therefore totals (in those cases where a lifter managed to equal his best lift of the dominant hand with the other hand) in the 2006 GGC are not fully comparable to totals in competitions in which both hands were tested on equal terms.

I've been cruising this list more often lately. Setting my sights on a Top 10 spot on the vbar total list at the MGC5. That might be aiming too high. Guess I won't know until I get it done though. I'm looking forward to comparing the LGC Replica Vbar with the FBBC Vbar that I've had for a while. However, I have heard from one very strong and respected vbar lifter that in his words the FBBC vbar was harder than the Euro vbar. First I had heard of that. Hope it holds true with me! :cool
