It will work your wrist good. However, just because you practise that won't mean much when you step up to an armwrestling table. Armwrestling is far far more than wrist strength. IMO, the most important strength is what is called "sidepressure", there is probably 99% of beginners weak point. It won't matter if your wrist is strong when your opponent forces your whole arm to the pad :)
