EricMilfeld
This is a ranked list of Fat Bastard Barbell, Gripboard, and Ironmind certified bends. It also includes bends performed in competition, as well as video taped bends performed by Gripboard members in good standing. It is somewhat subjective, but I believe it's a fair representation of the top fifty certified bends. Bends performed previous to others of the same difficulty receive a higher ranking. You'll also notice that I give more weight to Red Nail Roster bends than Bastard bends, due to the different rules used for certification. This list will remain a living, breathing organism, so if you are capable of nudging your way into the list, go get certified! Also, I'm going to add the dates on which the bends were performed, so if you happen to know the day, month, and year of any of these bends please PM me. Thanks. I just went back and read it again, if I understand it right, my senerio would put me at #32. Edited December 2, 2005 by GarytheDino

Muscle Turtle
Eric, what about yours and Edgins 5/16 G5's... Shouldnt they be put at the top simply because no one else has bent them? Another question, shouldnt the red nail roseter almost be put in reverse because of the padding rules? You were allowed to use IM pads and other stuff before, now just IM pads, make sense to anyone else? or jsut to me? Also, Id like to say its a pleasure to be on that list with you crazy guys out there. This sport is MENTAL! Awsome thread.

Muscle Turtle
4 inch bending is a totally dif bend all together, and only monsters like Greg are capable of performing huge bends like 4 inch reds, not mere mortals.

EricMilfeld
First off, thanks a million for ya'lls show of appreciation! Gary, with the recent updates I just made your certification would place you in the 34th spot. With regards to the IM padding rules change, the padding I used to cert initaially was actually less of a leverage advantage than the blue cordura pads. I think this was probably the case for most of the certs performed prior to the rules change. But it's definitely too late to go back and try to determine what leverage advantage each individual bender may have gained prior to the rules change. As far as Clay's and my big grade 5 bends, keep in mind they weren't official certification bends. I think a 5/16 x 7" grade 5 is still not quite as difficult as a Magnificent Bastard bend, but close. And yes, I too believe stronger, longer steel is more impressive than weaker, shorter steel, as a general rule.
jad
Great list Eric Without opening up a can of worms: if you are going to give more consideration to the Red nail benders due to the new rules; Big Steve bent his 5.5 FBBS DU Just something to consider. Thanks for putting all this together.
EricMilfeld
Josh, great question. With the Red Nail certification rule there is a requirement that you use a wrap that ensures any leverage gained by the wrapping material is kept to a certain standard, so this must be considered when ranking the bends. With the Bastard certs any style of non braced bending is allowed, so if someone happens to bend with a style that is more difficult for most people, it is by his choice only, and is not a requirement of the rules, so this really shouldn't factor into the ranking. As a goofy example, if someone chose to sprint in the Olympics wearing combat boots there would be no curve awarded to his race time. So, I would agee that Steve's bend is more "impressive" than mine, but mine is equal to his in terms of the rules of the certification process. I'm listed higher on the list only as a result of the fact that I certed first. This top 50 list is simply a reflection of the various certs and contests, and is not necessarily a sequential ranking of the best benders. jad
Thanks for the reply Eric. I tend to agree with you on the why make it harder than it has to be but at the same time was still in awe of Big Steve's bend at BBB.
reubi
Eric, thanks for the list, very motivating for me, and surely for most other benders.
Big Steve
The 100 reds by Amidon and The Dress Wearing Morton should be the greatest bending thing every done. That just ain't HUMAN!

EricMilfeld
Bob Lipinski has been added to the list for a grade 8 bend at his Michigan Grip Championships. Nice work, Bob! This was an oversight I've corrected.

GarytheDino
I have a red cert nail on the way to Ironmind along with a 6.5 bent red. That should bump me up a few notches.
