Elbow On The Pad

Hello!

Is it a good idea to keep the downward pressure of the elbow to the elbow pad pretty low? As a beginner I have a tendancy when I load up at the start to apply what I believe is too much pressure with my elbow down to the pad itself? Is this a bad habit? I guess that extra force could make better use some place else, or?

I mostly toproll, btw, if that makes any difference? What do you more experienced say?

hey patrik if you place pressure down on your elbow you are gluing your arm in one spot you need to use all your reserves you need to use your lats and pull him to you as long as you keep your elbow in the circle or on the pad like a hockey puck just enough once his arm moves to you then you can plant your arm and top roll him and push him to the mat good luck in your contests :)
