Question for Nick

supersqueeze

Recommended Posts

Nick - I have read, and re-read your post on pinch gripping technique, however I am still not fully understanding how to practice gripping while leaving out the fingers and thumb. Do you mean to try to palm the object with just palm and the meaty part of the thumb? This seems very awkward and difficult. Please try to explain this technique again. I wish to learn to pinch the most efficient way rather than risk learning, and subsequently unlearning, a bad habit.

Thanks, Mike.

Mike,

What you are doing is correct and yes it is awkward and difficult. Are you using a thin pinch for this exercise or your regular pinch grip apparatus? It's better to use a thin one, 1" or less, as you'll get the feel of the 'hand' pinch better. Also this is just a supplementary exercise to do at the end of your workout much like a body builder might do dumbell flyes for chest or an Olympic lifter might do presses to aid his jerk and core strength.
