jarow
I've read lots of posts on here and searched in vain to find exactly what they mean... From what I gather single stamped is significantly harder than double stamped. Why and how? And where do single stamped grippers come from, is it just random what you get? Thanks for any help...and sorry if I missed any obvious cases of this being answered, if that's the case I guess I need to work on my searching skills
Bearcat 74
They are mearly made in different years. There is no difference in strength. There are hard single stamps and easy ones, hard double stamps and easy ones. Single stamp grippers are older models, that's it.
jarow
hmmm ok...I know in some posts though people have alluded to single stamped grippers being more difficult: "I'd like to see this close and see whether it's single or double stamped. If it is single stamped, then I would say it's the greatest 4 close since Kinney." posted by Wannagrip in response to a thread discussing Samuelsson's #4 certification. Bearcat 74
There has been 1 single stamp 4 closed on video. Grippers usually come in batches. The wire varies and you will get weak batches and hard batches. I have messed with a couple of grippers here and there, and there are hard and weak of both. I have a single stamped 4 from 2000 maybe?? Its just freakin' monsterous and all the ones I've seen from around this time are like that. I have a hard double stamp too.......... Zakath
How does Single Stamp look like? And double stamp? I don't get it
krushdude
Single stamp has the COC number stamped on the bottom of one handle with the other handle blank. Double stamp has the COC number stamped on the bottom of both handles. Edited January 21, 2005 by krushdude

mooinabc1
Either you close the #2 or either you do not. I do not think that the issue the issue is how will I close the #2 and what can help me do that. get the gripper helper if you think that gripper is too easy or get the nest grip level. But donot short change your self that just because gripper vary then I not going to gripper anymore. Try the #3 or #4 And tell me they are easy. Even a easy gripper is a thing to be proud of. Or use it for inbetween gripper that will take you to the nest level. I wish I had an easier #2 but mine is a hard #2 and it is a 195 pounds period. GarytheDino
Alot of the guys here have more experience than myself but from what I have seen so far the single stamps have a super wide spread of 3.25 or so and that is what makes them so hard or at least the ones have tried. Even the #2 single stamps are that way. It's hard enough to find a single stamp anything now days..............but I would like to get my hands on an easy one, that has to be extreamly rare. Travis
I have never seen where anybody has said how much the difference is between an easy gripper, and a hard one. My buddy has an older double stamped #3 that I can get to within an 1/8 in. of getting closed. I bought a 2004 #3 that I can barley get to parallel. Is this normal? GarytheDino
That sounds right..............there is a varience everyone knows that and excepts but typically...........everything I have seen so far and read.........the double stamps are easiest but still more than a hard SM.....the coc logo 2004's are real close to the mash monster 1 and the single stamps from the late 90's are about the same as an Elite. I know mine fall in that catagory too. However there are some odd ball grippers out there apparently that don't fall into thse catagories but I would imagine the majority does. I just got me a cheap dyno so I don't really care about all the gripper differences any more. Just get you one on E-bay for about the price of a custom gripper and all the guess work is eliminated.
