  1. I posted this in my log, but I thought more people might see and appreciate it here. I was showing my neighbor my blobs since they were still in the garage. I lifted it a couple of times. The Shaw Blob (Legacy 150) isn't going to be far off. I was shocked it came up so easily. I've been grinding hard in preparation for some big pinch feats, and the work has definitely paid off.

I wanted to try to compile everything I've learned in my year and a half of grinding away at these things to give the best information possible to someone new to grippers or looking to expand their knowledge. Obviously, there could be hours of discussion about training and programming, but I didn't want to go into that much detail.

All editing was done by Todd, I just supplied a few clips that I happened to have saved to my phone (Dave Morton and Shane Larson) Also some clips from @ZRMMAThe Grip Show and @pancho_grip_lift Grip Sport Latino podcast.   7. Im weaker could get only 2 good reps, it will try to get stronger in the following months to do 3 certification, before 3 weeks ago i was 5 months off grippers coming from a wrist injury so its not that bad, sorry for keep you guys waiting, ty for the patience.

  8. Chromium springs are being run! This is one of the major things that needed to happen. We went through a few samples runs to get these right. The actual Chromium gripper will run somewhere above 220 and up to 245 so that it doesn't overlap with the #4. But then I needed some with slightly different specs or it was going to be impossible to cover 210 and 220 for the Mash Monster grippers. I hope it works out.

  10. First of all, I want to Thank Will Guiliani who put together this top-shelf contest and was a very strong dude. It is not easy to promote, organize, keep score and do what you do on the platform - all with skill and positive disposition! Will has the perfect people skills to continue to gather new and exciting talent- women and men. His company West Coast Arm Sports will flourish for a long time. Bottomline, Will is the man. My desire and hope were to meet Jedd Johnson someday and when the location for this contest was announced I knew I had to attend. I have a fear of flying that is crazy but some people have that fear. Step one was to get on the plane and arrive and step two was could my lower back withstand Event 1 - DO Ironmind Axle. I had put in about 6 weeks of intense plank work, back prehab, massages and it paid off as my lower back made it thru the Axle pulling a stress free 352 LB. 4 attempts- 4 good lifts. Event 2 - 2" x 5" Saxon Bar - I had never tried this size Saxon before. I was conservative not only because of 6 events but not knowing exactly how this bar was with heavier weight. I ended with an easy 220 LB. with much more in tank. Happy that lower back was feeling good. 4 attempts - 4 good lifts. Event 3 - 2.5" FBBC Crusher- I had only trained this event with my left hand as I wanted to rest my right hand for the subsequent events. However, the competition was awesome, so I had to rely on my right and ended with 176 LB. 4 attempts - 4 good lifts. Event 4 - Ironmind LBH- I had not trained vertical since Kong '20 so my goal was 200 LB and ended with a low stress 198 LB. 4 attempts - 4 good lifts. Event 5 - Ironmind Silver Bullet - NOT EASY after 4 events but I was hopeful to hold the 3.5# (178#) and I did just that 3.26 Seconds. I purchased Jedd's Silver Bullet Program and it helped as I was training with 7.5 LB and CoC 3.5 (184#) 1 attempt - 1 good squeeze Event 6- Canary Island Medley- This is what makes Grip Sport so freakin AWESOME! What a collection of items to lift and truly a disneyland feel for a gripster. My best moment of the entire 8 1/2-hour contest was a Dominating 32 KG (70 LB) Kettlebell Pronation Wrist Flip - which only one other person completed - Mike Gentile. It was nice to showcase that wrist talent and to have my wife tell me afterwards the audience positive reaction to it. At the awards ceremony, I spoke from my heart what I wished to share, and I will leave that forever with that group of incredible gripsters and supportive spectators. Grateful! Finally, to meet the GOAT Jedd Johnson and to hang out, have dinner Friday night at Benihana and watch this man do what he can do on Saturday was EPIC! Jedd is not only fiercely talented, but he is a freakin grip SAVANT. I Thank You and big CONGRATS for flying the long distance and defending your championship belt. Jedd Johnson- the Gripsport GOAT!!!!!! To conclude this "Bucket List" of mine, I had dinner after the long but enjoyable contest with Jedd, John Machnik - who is the most underrated Gripster in the entire world- John finished overall 3rd Place and his wonderful wife. Congrats to all that put their skill on display and the spectators! What a collection of talent and more importantly classy individuals. Long live GRIPSPORT

  11. One update is that I'm considering introducing the levels as I can. Just to get things going. It is proving to be a unique challenge to have reliable access to springs. Right now I have all 4 women's levels sourced. 110-120-130-140. For men's levels I have 160 and 200 sourced. But I believe I can also make some or all of 180, 190, 210 and 220 as soon as we have capacity to make handles at the shop. I got my order of Chromium springs and they were mostly wrong, which is indicative of some of the challenges getting springs. So I am not sure what I will actually be able to get out of those. (Don't worry, we have about four different spring troubleshooting irons in the fire.) I for sure need to order a small run of unique springs for 170. (Which I should say I did have on order, but probably need to find another source at this point). This is a priority! And I want to get it as right as possible so it can continue for years to come.

  13. I am giving away a free, unique GHP Level 7 to someone in Contributor Level 3. The gripper rated 142 and is in great condition. The glue failed on one handle so I pinned it back in place. This gripper is even more unique because I believe it to be at the very end of the 1st generation. It has two GHP 7 dome stickers, but the knurling and handle design is indicative of 2nd generation. Right now, this is a 1 of 1 GHP Level 7. Post below if you would like to be considered. This thread will lock at an undisclosed time and then I will do a drawing. International is okay, I will ship it to anyone (as long as that is possible). The only criteria is that you're in Contributor Level 3 to add your name.   20. ACE of O-1 Recap We had 21 participants from 6 countries including multiple all-time greats competing in an all 7” O-1 drill rod contest taking place from 1/7/24 to 4/13/24. The difficulties were P Q R 11/32 23/64 with 2 attempts per bar, one point scored for each difficulty bent, and overall time used to break ties! Without further ado… Congratulations to THE ACE of O-1 DEREK GRAYBILL!!! Derek bent all five bars in one session and further strengthens his grasp on GOAT status by dominating the strongest field ever assembled! Alex D and Sergey also bent all 5 bars, coming second and third based on time and each had brilliant competitions as well. Alex D bent all 3 letter bars in cordura singles in a majestic display of power and skill and Sergey dramatically conquered the Final Boss on his second and last try after running out of time with one hit to go on his first attempt. They were the only 3 to successfully bend all 5 bars and deserve to be distinguished with podium finishes! Alex G and Andrey rounded out the Top 5 with four points each after successful 11/32 bends! Thank you to everyone who participated, there was amazing performances throughout the competition! Some that jump to mind are Austin scoring the first point of the contest with a 9 second bend of P and that going wire to wire as the fastest bend of the contest! Robert Miller defeating all 3 letter bends and getting faster as he went while being 36 years older than our youngest competitor Andrey who scored a Top 5 finish at only 21 years old!!! Dmitriy Anisimov reducing his wraps from his first two second P bend and then bending it twice as fast! Juha and Carl-August, one of the all-time greatest Double Overhand and Braced Benders respectively, smashing bends and giving the newer benders a chance to compete against greatness!!! HUGE THANKS to Jan who had an excellent competition as well and without whose help this contest wouldn’t have been anywhere near as awesome! Also Huge Thanks to Todd for judging all my bends, love you dawg! Personal Recap: I almost can’t believe it’s over! All it took was buying the drill rod then cutting, grinding, cleaning, labeling, recruiting, packaging, shipping, judging, updating oh yeah AND BENDING!!!!! Including the most important single bend I’ve ever attempted. This was likely the most competitive lineup ever assembled for a single contest and I was in 8th place with 3 points and out of 23/64 (blue) and only had one 11/32 (green) chance remaining … fortunately Derek spent the week teaching me how to bend and I came through in my last chance to move me all the way from 8th to 4th Place Overall! What a contest if I may say so myself

  22. I don’t think there is any reason to be coy. Looks like @C8Myotome was removed. He’s a valued community member and has earned some respect. Right now, we don’t know what happened, possibly he requested to be removed? He trains hard and is getting stronger all the time so my feeling is he could knock out a re-cert whenever he wanted. I hope he gets back up there Uplift and lift heavy.

  25. Workout 3/26/24: Deadlift (double overhand w/ straps): 177.5kg / 391lb x 1, 1, 7 A. Tempo Squats (no sleeves, no belt): 60kg x 4, 4 | 70kg x 4, 4 B. Rolling Thunder: 53.75kg x 7/hand | 52.5kg x 8/hand | 50kg x 3 sets of 8/hand | 45kg x 3 sets of 8/hand Top deadlift set means 187.5kg / 413lb x 1+ for next week. Today I was testing the waters with the tempo squats, and I kept it super light. Basically keeping a constant slow speed down and back up. These are harder to me than pause squats because even though I'm not using the stretch reflex in either one, at least I can drive hard and fast out of the hole on the pause squats to get past the sticking point. That's not the case with these. I have to consciously go slow out of the hole and through the sticking point, and it's actually really tough even at these low weights. My plan going forward with the RT is to bump the weight up modestly for the top set of 8 (on the order of 1-1.5kg) then do the same for the 6 (3/3) drop sets. Today it didn't quite pan out as I couldn't get the last rep, but we'll see how it goes next week. I'll go for 53.5. If that doesn't work, then I'll have to re-assess.

  28. My experience is similar. I have run many "grip gauntlet" booths at USAPL meets and had grippers at my desk in corporate America for about 15 years. The average guy, untrained in grip, can close a #1 after they've been shown anything about how to hold the gripper. There was more upside at the powerlifting meets. Sometimes a guy would walk up and no set a #2 and ask "what are these?" That never happened at my desk job. A lot of the powerlifting folks could give the #2 a real scare after being shown how to hold a gripper. There was more downside at the corporate crowd. There would be guys who just couldn't quite get the Trainer even after receiving tips. You could always see the skew was really affecting them from a coordination standpoint and they would predictably exclaim, "it's trying to twist out of my hand!" But, on average, any given untrained guy that tried could usually close the #1.

  29. Just started training grippers this year, Jan 10th. Having been an athlete most my life consistency won’t be an issue here. I’m in no rush to get certified, I just enjoy training and pushing hard and need a goal to aim at so I don’t feel aimless. i am trying to focus more on training my ccs as that seems to be my weakness (maybe that’s the case for most) figured I’d document my journey here for fun and maybe get some tips from you guys along the way. My best close so far is a parallel set double with a Standard Iron RGC 134 (Was planning on posting the RGC 134 double video but wouldn’t upload) Training tomorrow, hoping to ccs close the coc #2.5 RGC 123 with any luck

  31. Great session today! coc 2.5 RGC 123 (ccs) - closed! Standard iron RGC 141 (parallel) - RH closed! Felt like I had the strength to close the 141 with the left hand but had a awkward feeling set up.

  32. Squats and Grippers! My squatting window was tight so instead of loading up a barbell I did single KB squats from rack position. Worked up to a 3x2 on each side with 48kg! Later in the day I did some grippers and after warming up I did: 145 rgc HG 300 - mms close New & Unrated Deathgrip 400 - mms closes and first person ever to close this gripper! MM2 - close but clear MMS fail MM1 - terrible attempts at 38mm & mms My gripper endurance falls off fast but I was stoked to close the Deathgrip 400 the day @acromegaman sent it my way, and even more to be the first person to close it!!! Wrist curls - 60 reps per wrist with about 35 lb dumbbell Wrist roller -18 pounds for 5 minutes (running clock even with breaks)

Devin is an intellectual and an athlete, and I've had the pleasure of working out with him once or twice. Good man! He's way too into bending, but anyone into bending is way too into bending lol. That's just my bias talking. And here is what Devin says about Devin: 1. What are your stats? GripBoard name: @devinhoo, instagram @doctor.grip Age: 31 Height: 6’2” Weight: 195 Dominant hand, and hand size: right handed, 8.25” Country/City: Philadelphia PA Relationship Status: Long term partner Children: none Occupation: Emergency medicine physician 2. Why did you start training grip (and how long is it now)? I started grip training in high school when I was rock climbing every once in a while with my friends. I didn’t do a lot of grip specific workouts other than climbing and pull ups. Climbing was my main focus from around 2014-2017, primarily indoor bouldering where I managed to climb two separate V9 routes. I really got into grip specific training in 2018 after meeting up with Clay Edgin over the summer before starting med school. That’s when I started buying grip tools and grippers, devoting workouts to grip training itself. I got into steel bending in 2020 during lockdown, and have been slowly getting back to where I was with grip since gyms reopened. 3. What are you most proud of accomplishing in grip already, and what is/are your grip goal/goals? I very briefly held a silver bullet with a CoC4. Since I got really into bending I have only done a few dedicated gripper workouts, but I at some point I would really like to get back to some longer holds with a CoC3.5. I even have a Hulk Gripper rated 200 lbs as a stepping stone between the CoC3.5 and the CoC4 when I get back to that level. In bending I think the most impressive bends I have done are unbraced 80d and 100d nails. It is always exciting to bend 3/8” steel, and I got really into who all had done longer bends unbraced. I started researching and keeping track of other people that had bent similar nails, which eventually blossomed into starting a website with more information about steel bending. My long term grip goal is to lift the Thomas Inch Dumbbell. I was absolutely hooked the first time I encountered one, even though I could barely budge it. I’ve pretty consistently been able to lift ~64 kg bells over the years, but at best I’ve been able to get one end off of the ground for a full 78 kg bell. At some point when I have the funds I plan on buying an Inch Dumbbell of my own, but I’m not quite there yet. 4. How do you currently structure your overall training/how do you incorporate your grip training? My work schedule is pretty erratic, so at this point I am aiming just to train grip on a regular basis. On days that I can make it to the gym I usually pick a grip single tool to work with for the day. I try warm up and then aim for a weight I’m pretty sure I can comfortably rep out, and then do a 5x5 with it, sometimes followed by drop sets at a lighter weight for more reps to tire myself out. On other days I use my downtime between my main lifts for the day to rate steel with my hand and thigh lift setup. I try to mix grip in when I can with things like warming up on deadlifts double overhand and avoiding straps when I can help it. 5. What hobbies (other than grip/bending/lifting) do you enjoy? Reading, when I can. I grew up reading a lot of my dad’s high fantasy books, and they’re some of my favorite ways to escape to world for a bit. Lately I have been listening to audiobooks, but it isn’t quite the same. Someday I would love to have a reading nook surrounded by books. 6. Do you have a personal anecdote, topic or thoughts you'd like to include in your profile? Take care of your hands. There’s nothing worse than training hard and then having to stop suddenly because a callus tore off. Smooth down rough spots and moisturize your hands.   37. Today was planned as a normal “grip aware” workout. The main part was banded double overhand RDL’s and rows (with less bands). I was going to do blobs with it too but got tricked by problem free warmups only to realize that a blister on my index finger actually was a problem once I got to any blob wide enough to be worth liftingso I switched to one handed flask for alternating reps and then a hold on each hands last rep, I’m starting to suck less at flask and like it more … coincidence I’m sure Anywasy, my coolest set was 5 reps of DOH RDLs with 230 pounds and red/green/orange bands. If it wasn’t the set I filmed for the gram I probably would’ve stopped at 4 since there was a 50% chance the bar was going to get snapped outta my hands by all the band tension on that 5th rep, but I won the coin flip and held on After the barbell & flask stuff I did some kettlebells, mostly anchor cleans and some holds in rack position and that was all she wrote … or was it!!! Later in the day I found myself staring at my RB adjustable gripper and figured a few easy reps would be harmless enough, ten minutes later I’d worked up through my pinned standards until I got bricked by my 148 nickel!!! My highest rgc close is 152 and that was for a properly prepared for session but I didn’t let reason get in the way and started hunting for a TNS pr if I couldn’t get an MMS pr. Needless to say, I’d probably still be hunting for that TNS pr now but eventually the mail arrived and there was 20 shiny unbent 1/4”x7” g2 bolts right at my door step so I did the only reasonable thing at this point and bent one barehand and all was right with the world asides from saving me from gripper fever, I’m excited to work through these g2’s to help me getting used to bolt heads and threads barehand in the hopes of smashing a Horrido 4.8 barehand cert in the future!!!

  38. Right Hand Recovery Test 03-25-2024 Quick trip up to New York during the kids' Spring Break. One of the many fun things was this cool park/playground by our hotel. Random urge to test my right hand's recovery with this piece of playground equipment. Nor sure I was even using it properly. But the key thing is my right thumb and index finger were generally ok with this little experiment. So it seemed like a good sign.

  46. Pressing Day Today Was hoping to log press but it was a rainy one so had to keep it inside. Had a split session: Part 1 Assorted light kettlebell warmup Bench press up to 275x2 & 315x1 then a 3x3 at 315 to a 3 board which moved nicely! Part 2 Chest and Tricep complex with 35 pound fatbells. 276 pound sandbag 2x8 floor press and a sweet 1x1 kneeling press!!! 9kg meel 2x50 ab roller from knees 3x8 and it was a wrap. Nothing too wild except the kneeling sandbag press which was a fun adventure to even get in pressing position let alone overhead
