  1. TNS'd a 165 RGC 3.5 in my 2nd gripper session tonight. The handle mount is horrible.

  2. @tkovach724 spent what little free time he had to put together a tribute to the Mashmonster ladder and the grippers creator Warren Tetting. All editing was done by Todd, I just supplied a few clips that I happened to have saved to my phone (Dave Morton and Shane Larson) Also some clips from @ZRMMAThe Grip Show and @pancho_grip_lift Grip Sport Latino podcast. Hopefully you guys enjoy this and I'm looking forward to the new Mashmonster ladder! Ps. I'm sure this might belong in the Mashmonster forum but I just want it to get the attention it deserves. If it gets moved, I understand.

  4. ACE of O-1 Recap We had 21 participants from 6 countries including multiple all-time greats competing in an all 7” O-1 drill rod contest taking place from 1/7/24 to 4/13/24. The difficulties were P Q R 11/32 23/64 with 2 attempts per bar, one point scored for each difficulty bent, and overall time used to break ties! Without further ado… Congratulations to THE ACE of O-1 DEREK GRAYBILL!!! Derek bent all five bars in one session and further strengthens his grasp on GOAT status by dominating the strongest field ever assembled! Alex D and Sergey also bent all 5 bars, coming second and third based on time and each had brilliant competitions as well. Alex D bent all 3 letter bars in cordura singles in a majestic display of power and skill and Sergey dramatically conquered the Final Boss on his second and last try after running out of time with one hit to go on his first attempt. They were the only 3 to successfully bend all 5 bars and deserve to be distinguished with podium finishes! Alex G and Andrey rounded out the Top 5 with four points each after successful 11/32 bends! Thank you to everyone who participated, there was amazing performances throughout the competition! Some that jump to mind are Austin scoring the first point of the contest with a 9 second bend of P and that going wire to wire as the fastest bend of the contest! Robert Miller defeating all 3 letter bends and getting faster as he went while being 36 years older than our youngest competitor Andrey who scored a Top 5 finish at only 21 years old!!! Dmitriy Anisimov reducing his wraps from his first two second P bend and then bending it twice as fast! Juha and Carl-August, one of the all-time greatest Double Overhand and Braced Benders respectively, smashing bends and giving the newer benders a chance to compete against greatness!!! HUGE THANKS to Jan who had an excellent competition as well and without whose help this contest wouldn’t have been anywhere near as awesome! Also Huge Thanks to Todd for judging all my bends, love you dawg! Personal Recap: I almost can’t believe it’s over! All it took was buying the drill rod then cutting, grinding, cleaning, labeling, recruiting, packaging, shipping, judging, updating oh yeah AND BENDING!!!!! Including the most important single bend I’ve ever attempted. This was likely the most competitive lineup ever assembled for a single contest and I was in 8th place with 3 points and out of 23/64 (blue) and only had one 11/32 (green) chance remaining … fortunately Derek spent the week teaching me how to bend and I came through in my last chance to move me all the way from 8th to 4th Place Overall! What a contest if I may say so myself

  6. My experience is similar. I have run many "grip gauntlet" booths at USAPL meets and had grippers at my desk in corporate America for about 15 years. The average guy, untrained in grip, can close a #1 after they've been shown anything about how to hold the gripper. There was more upside at the powerlifting meets. Sometimes a guy would walk up and no set a #2 and ask "what are these?" That never happened at my desk job. A lot of the powerlifting folks could give the #2 a real scare after being shown how to hold a gripper. There was more downside at the corporate crowd. There would be guys who just couldn't quite get the Trainer even after receiving tips. You could always see the skew was really affecting them from a coordination standpoint and they would predictably exclaim, "it's trying to twist out of my hand!" But, on average, any given untrained guy that tried could usually close the #1.

  15. If you handed someone a gripper who has never trained it and told them to close it they would always attempt to do a TNS with the back handle way down their thumb pad. Most people cant close a #1 first try because they dont know about setting it. Teach people to set a gripper and they smash it. I took my grippers to a weightlifting gym a few years ago and had everyone attempt it. They all failed a coc#1. Then I showed them how to set the gripper, almost all of them closed it immediately afterwards. They all failed on the coc#2 with the closest being a few mm off. Granted the coc#2 they used rates in the 110's (ballpark estimate from how easy my 98 coc#2 feels). If I had handed them an average #2 a few would have closed it. A #2 in my opinion is what I consider average. (100 rgc)

  20. Tomorrow the next mesocycle starts, but it’s not looking good for my right palm. It’s right where the end of the gripper handle sits, and it’s still bruised and painful. I was hoping some time would help (it’s been two weeks since I last did grippers), but it looks like it will take either more time or a more active type of recovery. We’ll see how it goes tomorrow. If I can’t use grippers on the right, I’ll do them on the left and find something else for my right hand to do. Maybe pinch.

  23. Being a bit sceptical about numbers in training progress (all my grippers are not calibrated), I went for a search for dynamometr and find out that they either expensive or doesnt fit my requirements or just crappy quality. So I took advantage of my jobsite possibilities and combined best of them all imo: durability, price and required dimensions. There are few cons like scales doesnt lock max weight and slippery handles (going to sand blast them). But otherwise works perfect.

  24. It's not "a" grip feat but I'm not as impressed by any single feat as I am with dominating something like a giant "Medley" that includes a number of what are "stand alone" highly impressive grip feats done non stop in a short time frame. Many include many feats that would be World Class by themselves. I can only imagine the Medley it would take to stop someone like Carl.

Will add a band in next session. Should give it a bit if extra tension. Inc Bench comfy enough . Felt them tho. Hypers strict really did me. They hit the spot & I really felt them. Good to get them back in rotation. Hub. Well I couldn’t remember where I was with this so hence the loads of sets. Seems to be moving ok. 26. Thanks John. Looking forward to it. @matek its a #3.5 This came up on my Facebook memories today 4 years ago.. Want to talk about hard work... Excavated this for a small addition. We bought a mini excavator for this job, couldn't fit anything bigger in the back yard. I wheelbarrowed out 3 dump truck loads full of dirt and and filled a 20 yard dumpster full of dirt to save for backfill, and had to wheelbarrow back in. Lots of jackhammering and drilling to key new foundation into old one. House was built on a spring so I was in constant mucky water which made it 1000x harder.. We ended up doing the concrete footing but the form guy did the foundation. beer tasted awful good afterwork.

  28. Heavy Bending Day, and a wild rollercoaster at that!!! Warmup bends ended with an OM shiny that was properly centered, a sure fire omen of awesomeness! Then off to the big bends!!! First up was an OM 13/32”x7.5” 360 Brass better known as an Odd Golden Emperor Of All Bastards Equivalent I’ve never tried to bend anything 13/32 before, but we were off to the races with a nice smooth 50 second bend! Next up was an official FBBC KOAB from January ‘24 and damn those are tough ones (KOABs from late last year were way way easier )I got some movement on it but nothing serious and then blasted away at it a while longer to count it as my iso training for the day. These will have to be taken very seriously and be prepped for and the feature bend, not just as a second of three hard bends bend. Since I cleverly reslotted this as my iso bar for the day, I replaced it with a 3/8”x7” bar from Delmar. I’ve bent this before, but never so smoothly and confidently!!! The last of the big bends was Rx6.5” O-1 drill rod. Two weeks ago I did this bend in a brutal 4:30 fight to the death, and today it was a dominant 49 second bend. I think it’s a good sign too that all three bends had basically the same bending cadence to them rather than my typical pure chaos. Also, no crush pads on any of them! Next up was an IMPs bend which I overshot going with a 3/8”x7” G2 and got bricked was running out of time so instead of fussing with it too much I switched to a classic red nail in imps and called it a day!

  29. Thanks John. There are two reasons I don't train grippers right now, recovery/time and... I test my strength on them every few months... I went from hardly doing my #1 unrated and a few times unrated#1.5... To now they are easy. With no real gripper training or proper technique last time I tried I was less than 1/4" on my #2. I'm curious to see how/if gripper strength progresses while I train for the inch without actually training grippers.

  32. RH - grippers Warmup - Level 1 - Level 5 MMS reps on the GD90 Main - 5x5 Standard Adjustable Ti, RGC 107, 20mm block set, 2-sec hold on each rep No problem, but the hold on each rep makes it much harder than the RGC suggests. Extra - 2x2 Stainless Adjustable, RGC 156, 10mm choked It's obvious that the place where the gripper is choked has a huge influence on the difficulty, but the difference is bigger than probably most people would guess. I would say using a hose clamp on the top of the handles feels like +10~15 RGC, and washer on the spring feels like +15~20 RGC compared to the Corcoran/CPW choking method (if the spread is kept constant). Of course, the RGC on close doesn't change, but the total work that needs to be done is much more. BH - dumbbell small wrist curls in one-handed dl position Plate rotation stopped, original blue fat gripz - 5x5 42.5kg/93.7lb RH - 5x4 42.5kg/93.7lb LH Plate rotation stopped, orange fat gripz extreme - 5x9 32.5kg/72lb RH - 5x7 32.5kg/72lb RH

  33. Busy morning. Rushed out early this morning to get guys going at work, ran home worked out and then had to run back out to check on guys. Here's a set with 100.5lbs thumbless. I actually performed this one again with my right because my 2nd rep wasn't complete. Strangely enough all of my other lifts have been going up. It was much better this week but for whatever reason, whether it's the sore right thumb or achy left wrist my crusher performance has been down. Like I said, the weights a little lower than usual but everything felt good today. still long way to go but little week by week I'm getting there.

FARMERS HOLDS (per hand) 15k x 10 secs 55k x 10 secs 90k x 30 secs 90k x 30 secs 90k x 35 secs 90k is comp weight . Felt hard today & first time my grip has slipped. Been trying for 5 secs extra every wk but feel I’m nearing my max . Next wk I’m going to try for 32 secs x 2 & max time last set. Felt a bit beat up today after a long wk. Done a few rounds sparring in the last couple of days as well. Time to rest until Monday .

  35. Pull, Squat & Grip Day Since I missed Mondays workout and didn’t wanna mess with bending days here we are with a long name for the day and not a long time to do it Started with a superset of stiff leg t-bar deadlifts (since it was secretly upper back day) and 45kg Holle Inch lifts. 3 rounds of 230 lbs in plates (prolly 240 total) T-Bar for 5 reps and then 10 reps alternating hands on 45kg inch. Next up I was taking a victory lap before actually lifting since I figured out the perfect exercise for Pull Squat Grip Day! 45kg Holle Inch Clean & Squat for the win! Did 3 sets of 3 reps per side and it felt like a full workout in one go! Finished up with a single yolo smash of my AK-150 dyno and got 106.6kg for a small PR but a PR nonetheless!

  37. List updated. - Decimals removed (explained in another thread - ratings aren't accurate enough to warrant using decimals) - List expanded to 50 entries per set category. This will be needed as the sport continues to see newer athletes with high-level closes (Ben Helms, TrenGrip, Jussi Mutikainen, and Daniel Brechmann are some recently appearing examples), and 30 wasn't enough. I keep 100 entries in my personal files, just in case - but 50 seems like a great number for this list, that both captures what has been done and also allows room for new entrants going forward - of which I expect there will be many.

  40. Push Day Kicked it off with bench, worked up to 275x3, 315x2 and 325 2x5 to a 4 board. Then took the workout outside and did some untracked clean and press work with 32kf and 48kg kbs, with the hope they were feeling good enough to go for double 48kg clean and press. But alas they weren’t so it’ll allude me a little longer, it’s only been 12 years so any day now Then I did behind the next presses with 150 pounds for sets of 5/3/3. And 140 pound log viper presses for 3x5. Then wrapped it up with 30 reps of light Viking press and re-wrapped it up with 50 swings of 9kg meel.

  45. Monday He came, he saw, he kicked b**t! I did all I needed to to prep for the Hatfield Squat. That included a double Ristretto before and another gratis gym coffee on arrival. My go to music playing as I walked to the gym and a little (2x) stretching Sunday. Hatfield Squat Bar x 8 reps, 140kg x 8 reps, 230kg x 6 reps (*support belt only), 350kg/770lbs x 1 (PB), 360kg/792lbs x 1 (PB) and 370-kg/814lbs x 1 (PB) rep. All heavy sets with the super duper new belt and Inzer red/black knee wraps (had a harder set of Cerberus Extreme wraps but didn't use them with me). To ensure no issues I was using a set of thin collars and hammered them tight. The only issues was worrying about the bar bending and it was harder to unrack than squat. I nearly went to 380kg/836lbs but called it a day. Little bit dizzy after. Leg Press Decided to forgo this Lying Leg Curls to 16p x 5 reps Leg Extensions to stack x 12 reps Bwt: 320lbs

  49. This week I went to a climbing gym a couple hours away from where I live which has a Rogue Anvil and some other grip stuff I don't have at home. I didn't climb because of my broken toe but tested out all their toe-friendly training equipment. Friday my Dinnie Rings from Cerberus Strength arrived and I maxed out at about 123kg/95kg. That's only about 65% of actual stone weight so I have a lot of work to do there but I'll need to spend some time working out best stance and getting used to the rings etc. I'm going to have to make some changes to my heavy grip days because by the 3rd implement I'm pretty fatigued so I'll probably drop 1 or 2 sets from each.
