  3. Weighed in at 198lbs for these. Have not touched a db over 130 for literally about a decade. Hit 10 with my left before grip started to give. Grip didnt give on right. No chalk at all, had a couple more for sure with chalk. Maybe next time.

  5. Keep the DB level makes it much harder. Do a side camera view next time and you can tell the tilt is very evident. Having said that pretty good. The below pic is a side view of your own DB form- keep it level and hand in middle for more benefit. Not hating just trying to help ya.

  8. Your memory is not your friend returning after a lay off. Don’t set up your sessions remembering what you used to do. You can come back stronger than ever before if you will return to being a beginner and building up. Start slow now to go fast later. Go fast now go no where soon

  9. I saw that screenshot and thought wait that looks like me lol. Yeah I keep it level until I cant keep it level anymore. If I had chalk on I would have kept it level a lot longer. Level or not it still is hitting the lats, my intended target. Grip is surely my second reason though.

  10. Yes and No. I stopped working in terms of frequency, and had a huge falloff. I was able to get as close as I had in post 2008 to being where I should have been, using Strossen's approach, which was basically like training weights for sets and reps: Lots of Number 2 work, and 2-3 reps on the 2.5, staying away from heavier grippers, not testing myself often on the 3, no negatives, etc. But that required more frequent gripper workouts. I could bomb the heck out of my hands before once a week with success, but falling out of that groove seemed to change everything. And, quite frankly, the last three years, AGE has changed a lot about me, and I have not quite figured out how things should work now. Where I first noticed it was a failed Certification Attempt in the summer of 2016, something I do not believe I have ever discussed. I honestly believed I was ready. I will post about that particular experience, and there were a number of people giving the same gripper a ride (or not attempting) including John Machnik, Clay Edgin, Martins Licis, and Ricardo Magni. I will post that story in the next week. Some of you might find it entertaining.

  21. Yeah he says it's an old one when they used to be easier in the description. Still an 'easy' #4 close is not easy to do haha Edit - seen in comments its only 187lb rgc so more like a hard #3.5 than an easy #4 really, think that's the lowest rating I've heard of. Still good stuff.

  25. I’ve got 10 years of training videos on the lift on yt for free- he obviously looked hard before asking the interwebz a question if someone is claiming there’s a special technique they are wrong. A special grip they are wrong. Grab it and lift it 365 @200 2” - 248 lbh - there’s nothing special but to grab and lift

  26. Great post from Carl, as always! With this one of the most important hints! What diameter bars do you guys in the US or elsewhere have access to? In Germany/Europe these are common and easy to get: 10mm / 3/8" ...can get pretty serious, if short enough! 12mm / 1/2" 14mm / 9/16" 15mm / 0.59" 16mm / 5/8" 18mm / 0.71" 20mm / 13/16" 22mm / 7/8" - Elite-Level at any length 24mm 24/25" ...has not been bent yet... 25mm / 1" So I recommend to go either short or long at the beginning. For the short bars you only have 2 basic techniques: the kink (knee/shin-pull or push in your thigh) and the legcrush, for long bars (>35" or so) you can go with one more technique (pull one leg (of the bar!) against your chest or against you hip/thigh). Hard bars inbetween require some more complicated techniques for the sweep. On super short bars (3/8" x 7" or even shorter), only the legcrush is left. This is pretty painful at some point and I would not recommend to start with this (unless you are from Russia or already insane ...). So, as Carl said, buy some steel, if you can bend it easily, cut 2" off, it it was hard, cut 0.5" off Have fun and good luck with your training!

  28. Couple things. There are alot more silver crush grippers than 3. There were silver crush #1, #2s and #3s. Alawadhi has 3 or 4 that I know of, plus he has a VERY early Stainless steel handled #4. The gripper that only 3 existed was the phantom 4 which John Brookfield, Richard Sorin and one other guy has. That's the small ammount I'm fairly sure of. Tim
