  2. So in what has to be THE story in grip this year, a couple Ukrainian giants on a rainy day playing with a GHP Level 9! Artem Ushenko and Igor Kupinsky are absolutely on another level. Plenty of video documentation of these closes was sent including Igor closing the 9 in his left hand, which has to be a first and Artem closing an 8 for 7 reps! Ukraine now holds the top 2 spots on the GHP Gripper Challenge board. http://www.gillinghamhp.com/challenge Artem Ushenko Igor Kupinsky

I am happy with how my training went and my performances. Now, time to figure out the next goals for summer. I had a moderate intensity training day today. Still a little sore from the last comp. I had some fun doing 3 grade 5 bolts in a row reverse, 1 in one IMP, 1 in David Horne wraps pads touching and 1 in IMP pads touching. Did quite a bit of snapping too. 1302E414-5992-497C-831B-5949834E9924.MP4 1302E414-5992-497C-831B-5949834E9924.MP4 1302E414-5992-497C-831B-5949834E9924.MP4

  11. I know it’ll probably never happen but just imagine how awesome it would be to perform a record attempt live in between two matches at one of the future WAL events. Using similar slick looking sledges with the chome heads and shiny wooden handles. With Slim present in the crowd tipping his hat in respect to the next generation of strongman. I’m sure if it’s done right it could be presented in a way where it would really capture the interest of the armwrestling crowd. I would jizz in my pants.

  13. Wednesday May 15, 2019 Went up to my friend's farm and cleaned up my caber a little bit with draw knife. Probably did about 20 throws only missing 3. Also brought some kettlebells to throw: 10kg, 14kg×2, 18kg. Five sets with the bells.

  14. I think quality of sleep and total quantity per week is extremely important. Learn everything you can about how you can maximize whatever time you have to sleep. you have to master regulating your emotions and stress. Stress management in your life is the real master key to fitness gain. You can do everything right in the gym but if you’re always walking the line of having a heart attack from stress you’ll never realize your potential. If you have continuous anxiety it will slow you down. If you’re always angry at everyone with high blood pressure it will kill your progress. anxiety, fear, doubt, impatience, resentment, hate, pride, unforgiveness- these things kill your gains more than any bad diet. +++ ^ note this is my method and my mindset this is not to stir up a pointless argument on my training log so save it if you don’t agree or whatever *** my weekly nutrition is meat, veggies, (I like fruit but in practice I don’t consume much at all) and some limited breads. I do not eat dairy products. Most days I eat a small breakfast, skip lunch, have a small snack in midday and a huge dinner. I use weekly the hand X band, a finger massager (thanks Tanner) I stretch daily, work mobility drills daily, and hang in gravity boots 5-6 days a week. I like hot soaks with salts. I often soak my hands & feet before bed. How I train is a huge consideration. It doesn’t look like what most people would assume. I do lift heavy but I do so in low effort. I “don’t try” when I lift. All of you probably train much “harder” that I do. Unfortunately the results of the people I have competed against now for years leads me to believe training hard and trying hard doesn’t matter much. It is more important to work within limits and balance your tissue as you continue to gain. Dont try hard, do right.

  17. Jedd and Luke said it's the worst they've ever seen. No warning. Halfway up with two 25kg plates sandwiching a 45. Had 5 lbs added to each side to make up the difference since we didn't have a 3rd 25 kg plate. Gonna be tough to train before NAGS. LOL

  21. I did some other fun tests last night at the gym as well. Didn't video though. One was Statue of liberty press. Used my solid loading pin with 45# plate and 3 bar clamps. Gripped at top of clamps and one hand cleaned then pressed. That press was tough. About 65# total. Also did some overhead triceps presses gripping sides of plate on the same loading pin. Got 2 45s for 5. About 110# Need to video those next time and really liked the overhead press like that. Triceps sore today. - Aaron

  23. Thanks Pinchmonster! You have outstanding thumb power so if you wanted to get in mid 70lb range or even 80's it would be accomplished in short order. I forgot to mention that that my hub set was my 10th and final set... Just kidding:)

  33. Any opinions on the best way to get better at setting grippers? Not in terms of technique, but more so exercises and training methods. Recently I've given in and started using a braced set when attempting my GHP7, but I'd rather be able to set it properly.

  36. Honestly, I would back off the 4-5x per day on the working hands. I used it regularly during the winter and I had issues similar to yours. It made me feel like the epidermis was sliding over the dermis (if that makes sense). I only use it a few times a week now and haven't had a skin tear in a long time. Although, I admit, I'm not as hard-core as you.

  37. It's been stated by a few other members here, I'll add my input as well. Long story shot, just work the set. No closes, only the set. The best method for getting better at the set is by practicing your set by performing it with grippers you can handle and one's that are above your current level. Take a light gripper and you'll get it down to range you're going to work. A heavy gripper to challenge the set and attempt to get a better performance in relation to where your current working gripper is at. Do not work closes when attempting to work you set.
