  1. Strongman often has axle deadlift events. The no flex of the bar, no spin of the sleeves, and larger diameter putting the bar slightly out in front of you makes it more difficult for most people. Thor is training for Europe's Strongest Man in April which has a 350kg axle deadlift for reps. They also like to use giant weights instead of plates and have the athletes raised up to bring it to a normal height. Strongman is supposed to be all about the spectacle after all.

  2. Sunday Funday. Finally some nice weather. 2 3/8" NN Near miss with 370 and got 333 to height thumbless. Then I went to work on the blobs. Worked up to a few high pulls on the fatman. Couldn't quite get it high enough to flip it over for a clean. Got a 3 finger lift and got big air with 2 fingers.

  4. Bicep tears using the larger bar and alternate grip is the common reason I hear.

  5. If you guys are just in it for the cactii, we can send you home with some prickly pear beer.

  6. I always knew you were just in it for the cactus.

  7. 2 finger surprised me. Had I known I was that close, I would have tried it at beginning of workout instead of the end. Got close on a couple clean attempts.

  8. How would he have fared if he would have gone this route instead of arm-wrestling? He’s not super tall like Shaw or Thor, but has insane upper-body strength. Not to mention probably world class grip strength also. He probably has the strongest arms of all time - agree or disagree? How would he have done?

  9. Well he’s benched 640 pounds and deadlifted 750, both in a meet. Has his condition gotten worse over time?

  10. Would be very interesting to see for sure. Strongest arms ever? Yes probably, he has the WR in strict curl. Would be very interesting to see him doing atlas stones, farmers walk and conan's wheel.

  11. You were calling Thor and his methods dumb, so yes my comment is highly relevant. Not everyone trains to break the DO axle WR you know. Not sure why you are so narrow minded to be honest. Thor is worlds strongest man and he sure isn't stupid. There's different ways of training, people have different goals you know.

  12. I'm pretty sure Thor knows what he's doing, also pretty sure he don't care about your opinion on the matter

  13. I don’t think it’s stupid. It works my posterior chain much harder because of the inch or so the weight is further away from you. Now I think stupid would be to only do them with straps all the time http://mythicalstrength.blogspot.com/2017/02/the-axle-deadlift-with-straps-why-you.html?m=1

  14. They train that way because they compete that way. Blame the competitions for making silly events.

  17. Not sure on horseshoes yet, should know soon. The snaps are the same as steel shredder 2. Here is a video of it

  18. You’re not on a apples and carrot diet anymore buddy. Might feel fine.

  19. Don - Has there been any decision with the types of horseshoes? Also, I’m not sure about the unbraced snapping. Couldn’t find much info on it and have never done it.

  20. Yes, first, second and third for each weight class, and women's. Not sure if they will let you take the trophies as carry-on's on the plane. As just the rebar probably weighs about 4#'s if this calculator is right https://www.harrissupplysolutions.com/8-rebar.html

  21. Cactii for the trophies in progress... A few action shots with an arm right out of the coal. Still need to shape the ends a little bit on these. These are all hot cut, and bent on the anvil. The long segment is 10" This is all 1" (# rebar.

  22. Tried it last night and really liked it. Still needs some chalk seasoning though. Pulled 110# 1H and 235 for an easy triple. The dynamics of it feel like the Saxon. Oh and I plan to have it setup for warmups and spectators to try at the comp as well. - Aaron

  23. I thought that was actually a fun and challenging event. You had to control it as well as be strong enough to lift it.
