Can Coc #2 holds translate to an increase crushing power ?
Jared P replied to alan_fra's topic in GripBoard
I have experimented with this style of training in the past, though I was not doing closes anywhere near my max. More like 50-80%. It works great as a plateau buster with noticeable gains for 1 to 2 weeks, likely due to an adaptation to newly introduced stimuli - but that was the limit for me, after which there were diminishing returns or even a regression. I'd recommend only training in this manner a few times a year, for a couple of weeks at a time, if you insist on training in this way. Otherwise, there are more efficient and better ways to get stronger, in my personal experience. But feel free to find what works for you. Experimenting is part of the fun. I'm experimenting with some extremely low volume mid-week training currently (opposite my normal Saturday gripper session), after being firm on only ever touching grippers 1 day per week for a long time (which is still my position on gripper training generally speaking). - Today

My experience has been I started in September. I started with the trainer and I can now close a 2.5. So I was just curious what others have observed.

Carl's GHP10 cert. GHP10 is a pretty hard gripper.

The same guy with grippers. Insane!!

Whats your favorite grip feat or what feat do you consider to be the most impressive? I primarily train olympic weightlifting and only started focusing on grip recently, so I really enjoy seeing what's been done in the community. For me it's gotta be Carl Myerscough curling 20kg plates with a pinch grip like they weigh nothing. For no other reason than that's something I walked out into my garage to try and it was so far out of possibilty.

The honors all mine bro!!!

Always an honor to be involved in these events! Thanks @featsofalex

If Jan does one on the Horrido blog I’ll be sure and link it here!

Anyone planning on a trip report?

That’s great to hear, thanks for following along and enjoying it!!!

That was an awesome competition! I actually joined insta gram just to follow along.

Spent most of the late afternoon & early evening cleaning out my under house storage. I’m thinking of making myself a grip cave. The only issue I have with my garage is the limited space to do any exercise I have to move stuff around. I thought if I sort out a grip den then I can leave stuff just laying around with any problems like falling over kit . Another reason is I can fill the new space with grip kit lol. I’ll get some pics tomorrow.

yes it will clash with your grippers especially if you are doing hard table time. However still doable if you make sure you aren't training both intensely, so if you work with light reps on grippers but going heavy on table its ok. If you want to progress specifically on grippers then you should not go hard at practice and mainly train technique at 60% or less.

Just clean the old glue and use gel CA. Or regular liquid CA if there's a tight fit.

ccs is one of the most difficult types of installation

I glued it with epoxy resin! You don’t need a lot of it, and there is a caveat that the handles will try to break out of the springs due to air pressure! You need to hold it for a few minutes until the resin sets

Thanks Devin!!! Yes there was so many great performances! I’m sure that as soon as you get a humane schedule you’ll smash your way up the next leaderboard!!!

Hey all I was trying to modify this gripper and while doing so the handle came off. I’m glad I was trying this on a gripper I didn’t mind messing up, but I would still like to salvage it if possible. It looks like it was just glued on. Would putting a new adhesive be safe? I feel like epoxy would be strongest but if anyone has any recommendations I’m open to them. Even maybe just drilling some holes for a couple of set screws to hold the spring in place. Thanks everyone!

You ran a great comp my friend. Starting above 5/16" immediately set the bar high, and going up to 23/64" really pushed people to do great things. I'm bummed to have been stopped by the P x 7", but I am so glad I got to compete even if I didn't make it onto the board.

Can Coc #2 holds translate to an increase crushing power ?
alan_fra replied to alan_fra's topic in GripBoard
Yes, I technically have 3 days off a week. Now its supposed to be Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday off. Then 4 days on. I actually do train grippers recently in max attempts to get a PR even in the early morning. It fatigues me so much that I even take hour long rests in between, sometimes more. For example 7 am , 8 , 9, 10 , 1 , 2 , 3 pm. Maybe 7 to 10 attempts in a day. -

Yes, there is definitely fatigue associated with maxing out on grippers, both muscle and CNS fatigue. Training daily can work early on, or can work with higher volume in certain instances of more trained individuals, but I don't know of an instance where people can get away daily low-volume/high-intensity work without degradation of results. -

Do you have any rest days? Sounds like you're training grippers daily and multiple times a day, which is probably not optimal. It wouldn't work for me anyway.
