    Travis Vs. Denis left predictions

I came very close to organizing a right hand supermatch between Devon and Andrey Pushkar as a special added attraction to the 2011 Canadian National Armwrestling Championships (which I hosted). Andrey had agreed to the match for the relatively low price of his flight, accommodations and $1,000. Unfortunately, Devon couldn’t commit to the match far enough ahead of time (due to work-imposed limitations). My point is that it wouldn’t take huge amounts of cash to draw the vast majority of pullers.

    Travis Vs. Denis left predictions

Yes, some organizations do pay some armwrestlers to attend in addition to the official prize purses that are up for grabs. But I suspect the number of pullers who are in a position to negotiate these paydays is very very small. I know back about a dozen years ago John Brzenk had a contract with PAL to compete in a certain amount of events over a certain amount time for a certain amount of money. And Devon was paid to pull Denis. I don’t know exact figures, though I’d be willing to bet that it was much less than 50k. I don’t think any promoter will be willing to put up $50k for a match any time soon. Right now, the potential return on investment just isn’t there. Maybe one day...

Indeed. I seem to remember wanting to send Jason Steeves Tamales one year after he came out to visit for comps. Cannot remember if I actually did it or not. Jason, did I ever do that? - Aaron

I like how all the southwestern states have their own style of Mexican food. I suspect they need that up in Iowa . 😆 When I lived in Virginia I made the mistake of getting Mexican at the mall. Imagine ketchup on a tortilla...

Hahahaha, best Mexican food I've had is here in droves. Can't hardly swing a dead cat without hitting a good Mexican restaurant or excellent taco truck. Funny you should say that, we just overnighted a box of frozen tamales to some of my wife's family in Iowa. - Aaron

If all you have is 6x2 and if Aaron's source doesn't work for you just center the bar at 2.5" from the face of one edge. The additional mass on the long side might make flexion a bit harder than a 5x2.
  11. Thanks! I have one 187 bar that I will probably try in a week-or-two. Might cut it down a few inches from my last attempt. I also have one of the 152 bars, but doubt I'd be able to get in the 20-22" range to be competitive. I've done very little training with the shorter stock and it remains awkward for me.

You know. And if that’s part of what helped you rewrite the record books... I’ll take 2 dozen, please.

I appreciate it. Just trying to keep all the suspicious guys who are stronger than me on the level. 😇

Your assessment is spot on. I appreciate the confirmation, Ben. I really didn’t even consider leather as an option. When I finally heard that some guys were using leather I went and bought some. But the kind I got was not suede; it was a very hard and brittle leather and first time I tried a Red it busted through and cut my palm. Then I was at a loss and totally frustrated before I found out I was simply using the wrong kind of leather. All trial and error stuff.

PM sent on the tubing. I think 2x6 would be way too pricey and harder to get any comparable wrist flexion with it.

I need to see your hand size documented on video and signed by a notary. Your hands are only 1/4” bigger than mine and thick bars snicker every time I’m near. This just can’t be...😤🙁😢😭

Outside pulling relies on riser strength, hand strength, hammer curl and pronation strength which fits into grip/wrist stuff pretty well anyway.

outside pulling is the top roll, posting type moves etc. Im an older guy too in my 40's and a lot of deep hook pulling or sidepressure hits the inner elbows pretty hard. Golfers elbow is the norm for a lot of hook pullers. Also I think for older guys table time should be much less frequent and probably more leaning towards gym training but that's just my opinion. I got in trouble when I tried to pull every week.

I can't get 2X5 rectangle tube, but I can get 2X6 for the Saxon bar. Aaron, just for conversation, do you think using this would mess up the wrist factor that comes into play on this lift? This particular dimension of rectangle tube is kind of pricey, so I don't want to go to the trouble of making one and it not really be beneficial.
