Rubber bands are the easy, cheap and effective option, need more tension, rubber bands come in various strengths and can be used in multiples or with a mixture of digits to make the task more challenging.

Is there any trick to prevent the rubberbands from sliding down the fingers?

Dont sand buckets provide insufficient resistance?

Not if you push your hand down farther.

The X bands may be the best extensor item I have used thus far.

I ordered a set based on Jedd's recommendation too. I received them at the beginning of the week and have really been liking them so far. Much easier to keep in place than rubber bands.

Thanks for letting us know about them and always providing reviews Jedd!

Absolutely, my friend. Extensor work is great. Treat it like any other training. Do it with variety just like your normal grip or body training and you will get the best results that way.

What resistance do yall recommend if you had to pick just one? is light a good place to start, or is that way too easy for someone who trains grip?

I was just going to order the medium and heavy, but ended up ordering the three pack. I'm glad I did. I keep the medium at work and the light and heavy at home. IMO, the light isn't too easy to get a good workout. I like to use it to warm up my hand and for higher rep work. It's easier to get a full expansion and do holds too.

If I were going with just one though, I'd get the medium. The gap between the levels isn't that crazy, but I don't like to jump straight into the heavy.

I actually do a special exercise I invented for my extensor training, at some point I might make a youtube tutorial for everybody on it. I call it the Extensor hold. Basically what you do is you take some paracord and cut them into 2ft lengths. You then make closed nooses in the middle of the rope, 5 of em. You'll also need some small micro weights you can build from small chains at a hardware store. Mine come in sets of 4 starting at 1/8th lb, 1/4 lb, 1/2 lb, 1lb. What I do then is tie weights to the end of the small nooses, the nooses should fit around your finger. I then position 4 of the nooses around the tips of my fingers, palms down, nails facing the ceiling, a bit below the finger nails and then I pick up the weights with the tips of my fingers, fingers fully extended out. I hold this for timed intervals, I find 0:45 seconds to 1:30 seconds to be ideal. You'll find that the pinky and ring finger give up first! so they need special attention sometimes, espicially my left pinky and ring finger. I have found that regular extensor training in this manner has definately helped to increase my flexor related grip strength by bringing balance to the antagonist/progaonist pair.

i like this idea. i actually thought of doing this awhile back but i didnt bother because i thought it would take too long, especially if you were to work the fingers seperately. imo, this would work better than the products they have for extensor training, since you microload for a start. its cheap aswell.

instead, ive been doing this exercise i seen on youtube, its also in one of john brookfields books "mastery of hand strength"

exercise starts at 2:20.

@Jedd Thanks for the recommendation. 3-pack arrived today. Lovin' it! I've always had trouble with regular bands sliding around, these HandXbands are great.

@Donald Very creative solution! I'll need to try it.
