recent events have inspired me to get back DO bending in between grip workouts. seems the time off has given the shoulder time to heal and made me a bit stronger. (as i have only ever "wobbled" a gold) i figured id give it a go tonight, and below is my status quo after a long layoff..
http://youtu.be/TL69JY3acZs
my best attempt yet. done in double 1.25" leathers.
the crush needs some work (its been awhile). i plan on working with this until i get it under 2", then i'll work on thinner wraps.
hopefully no injuries this time.. word.
oh and my forearm cramped up on me there once and had be bouncin around like a little girl.. lol, dont hate.

Every time you looked at the bar after you hit it...I was reminded of the scene where Apollo Creed looks in disbelief that Rocky was getting back up. Like...seriously Nail...you're not giving up? Now I have to beat you some more.

thanks brotha!Dam impressive dude. You are one hell of a bender.
lol, ya those fat wraps definately will get in the way the closer the ends get.. but its allgood.. haha, i aint there.. yet.Yeah man, very impressive. I have to say though, at least in my mind it seems like the double wraps might prevent you from actually getting within 2 inches. I'd imagine when it gets that close, they might get in the way too much, but I could be wrong.
thank youThat thing is MASSIVE.
Great work!
haha, ya, that bar definately doesnt get easier as the bend goes down..Awesome power!

this bar really hurt my shoulder the first time i tried a few months back, and made me 'almost' give up DO bending forever.. i attempted one at the shop in IMP's and shop rags, and with a horrible "newb" form. (i got a little wobble in it then..)
i didnt have a clue how hard it was at the time, and learned the hard way.. but based off gym lifts compared to a couple months ago, and now. i think i (may) have been strong enough to do the same from the get go.. but just didnt have much technique to boot, along with too little wrapping.
anywho, being that the shoulder is feeling up to par, and recent events inspiring me to get back DO bending, i figured id start back on the goal bar i left off on to settle some unfinished bussiness.
also, being that this thread has recieved nothing but positive feedback and some very motivational comments, i'll dubb this as my gold nail log. i'll post any progress i make on this bar here. word up.
thanks dewdCongrats on the progress Tommy!

thanks brotha. ...but i wont lie.. i wrapped one up in IMP's last night just to get a "feel", and it felt so impossible it wasnt even funny.. i wont make claims of aiming at a cert yet, but do have intentions of bending one in single leathers in the months (maybe even years) to come.Consider that you're just getting back into DO I think you have a good shot at certing this in 2013. That is if you if you stay clear of injuries.

after a small warmup with some pushups and some levering with an 8lb sledge, i did somewhere near 15 solid ISO's (i think.. i wasnt really counting as i almost passed out a couple times)
each hit lasted anywhere between 8 or 10 seconds at max effort a.k.a. whole body was trembling towards the end of each hit. between hits i took about a full minute break to stretch and wiggle the cramps out.
i decided i was spent and gave up for the night when my chest, shoulders, and triceps felt like i did about 500 reps on the bench.. ISO's are pretty friggin taxing!
today, the bar did not budge.. not even a little. so i plan to do the same next week. ...and the week after, and the week after that if need be, until it falls!
i want this bar BAD!
