You can see how close I am, note that this was my 10th attempt tonight at filming this, and my hands were fried by this point.

Sorry that you cant see the set I was using as I was filming by myself and didn't have someone to help film and follow the set and close. Ive done grippers Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday this week and will rest till next Monday and should be closed fully!

You'll get it any day!

To help you get there I will say this; you seem to only really struggled with the set.

Dont try to pinch the handles down, use your arms like you Do when you Crush in bending.

The thumb on the setting hand is just pushing the back handle into your Palm and the index finger of your settinghand is sorta the contact point for the setting arm.

Use your whole arm to push down on the front handle, dont pinch it. Arms in line with eachother when this happens!

Watch the "how to set a gripper" video by Paul knight and you will hear him talk about this in the end.

When you got this down the mm0 is yours :D

I know brother! I am so close I can feel it!!!

Setting has been a problem with me, I have 7.5" hands give or take so the 3" spread on this gripper is killer! I appreciate all your input and support peter it really does help.

That MM0 is mine!!

Very close! Yeah that set wasn't so bad as it was your mind getting in the way. You were overthinking the set and that takes too much away from the actual close. Make it more natural and the close is yours.

There is definitely a psychological barrier with my set but il have revenge next week. If I set it a quicker it will be mine. Thanks for taking the time to look and give advice!

Nice! Wont be long now!

I sort of just skimmed over everyones post, but im in agreement about the set. And the part that stands out about the set is that the hands are too far from the chest. Bring the hands closer to the chest on the set and it will be much easier. Ive found that it helps to set quickly as well. Word

Hands closer to chest, got it. Thanks for watching dewdddd!

Josh i feel like the gripper is too high in your hand i used to do this mistake in the beginning also.

Try to put the gripper just a little bit lower so you can help the set with your fingers.

Il have a look at your set in your videos to see where abouts you have yours and il see if that helps also with my set.

il try maybe a milimetre lower

Great attempt josh and it's good to see some videos from you lately! I have small hands too and what helps me set is I start the set by bringing the handles in a few MM and holding them in place with my four fingers, just to make the spread a little bit more narrow. Then I press the handles in all the way with my off hand. Seems to give me more power than just going for the set from the full spread of the gripper. Not sure if I explained that well enough; let me know if you don't get it.

Sounds like you kind of pre-set the gripper before you go for the set then close. With small hands, 7.25, that sounds like a big help. My set is awful, trying to fix it. My setting wrist gets sore!

Josh, how long have you been training grip?

Exactly. Especially when working with the GHP's that just have monster spreads, it helps very much. There isn't one right way and one wrong way to set a gripper....all that matters is closed vs. not closed.

When you get old like me, you have to find a way to set a gripper that doesn't hurt your elbow's!

The grippers I don't care about (cosmetically) I drilled a hole in the bottom of the handle.... So I can stick a penny nail in there, and get better leverage.

If you drill out both handles, you can have two nails that you can use to easily keep forcing that last bit closed.

Hmmm. That seems like a good training idea.

I have small hands and can set the old style vulcan on the 11th notch with the orange spring. What helped me was to practice setting the thing as a max effort movement and keeping record.

Thanks buddy. Finally decided to build some respect for myself on the bored by showing everyone and documenting PB's and closes etc. its taken a lot of balls for me to put things on youtube as i haven't been too keen on putting myself on youtube but im glad i did as i have got all this feedback and confidence in myself!

I understand what you are saying and im going to be giving the #3 all i have next Monday whilst working on my set. Thank you for the ideas smaller hands for the win haha.

I started when i was 14 and closed the HG200 then stopped for a few years and started up again a year ago closing the HG250 last Christmas and managed to get the coc #2.5, HG300, HG300 filed and up to #3 level all this year within less than a year than starting up again, a few months after my 18th birthday.
