diomedes
I've been following David Hornes beginner program since January, doing 2-3 sessions per week, usually after my regular training. I've recently acquired a pair of Manus grips and an Ironmind hub, and would like to start trying max lifts on these, as well as on the two-hand pinch. I'm just not sure as to how I should warm up for a grip-only workout, and since I've been doing higher repetition/time sets, I was wondering if it would be best to gradually increase the poundage over a few weeks, or just pick a day and go all out. Thanks for any input.
JoshW
With maxing out i usually do the same thing. Deadlifts for example if i want to max out i do one rep of each with rest 150kg,160kg,170kg,180kg and try max out on the last set and then each workout i increase the max attempt by around 5 or 10kg. For grippers i rep out a gripper thats slightly weaker than the one i want to close then make a max attempt on a harder one. Thats what i do and it works for me, hope it helps.

diomedes
Generally. I do my grip work following my usual lifting, which involves snatches, clean&jerks, pulls and squats, so my hands are all warmed up and ready to go after a couple of "feel" sets of grip work. I'll have to experiment a bit with the warmup process to see how my hands respond to a grip-only workout. Thank you for the responses!
Chops
I feel reps on a gripper just below a pr kill my max attempts. Maybe I have too close of a progression? Have you changed your warmup style?
