Sorry video sucks. Cut out the wrapping.

I have to thank Tom Scibelli for all the bolts and help he gave me when I judged his red nail cert.

Any and all advice would be appreciated.

Gotta turn the music up next time so you don't have me grunting in your face

Nice job man...that was a good strong bend!

Thanks Frank. It just kept springing back on the crush down.

Nice job Ryan! What kind of wraps were you using?

Thanks Tom.

I am using some really beat up IMPs. Gotta order some more.

Red nail is next. Any advice on making the jump?

Those grade 8s aren't too far from a red nail. I would wrap a red in doubles and give it a go. I think some would disagree with this, but for me it's a little bit physiological, if I can see that it can be bent in doubles it gives me confidence that it can be bent and then you can reduce the wraps until you can get it in singles. But drill rod is a good bridge too, the M bar is just under a red.

I had to do some searhing but I found 70D nails, a box of 25 for like $10. They are close to the red nail in size and difficulty. For myself size matters. I cant train on 6 in. bolts and expect to bend 7in. stock well.

Your bends look really good. How long have you been bending? Are you training any other grip?

Thanks for the advice and kind words I will try and find some 70D nails online. been bending some 1/4 hex and square at 7 inches to build up my endurance and practice the specific leverages I need for the red nail. I have been bending off and on for a few years. Ordered the Ironmind bag of nails about 3 years ago, didnt know about this site or steelbenders.org at the time, and I got stuck between the green and yellow nails not knowing a good way to bridge the gap I lost interest. That is until I drove out to Toms house and served as the judge for his red nail cert. Tom helped me out immensely by sending me some really informative youtube links as well as sending me home with some different steel to try. if it wouldnt have been for Tom I probably would still be stuck at the yellow nail. I have also dabled in bending horseshoes. Best I have bent was a SCF polo 1 and hearted quite a few ultralites (ordered too many in the begining) I seem to go through periods of training hard then I let life get in the way and fall off the wagon. luckily it seems my strength with bending doesnt go as quickly as my gym lifts. I usually can come back around the same level as I left off with minimal training. I also train with grippers once or twice a week. really want the #3 cert too. The best close I have completed was my COC 2.5 but it has been hard to repeat. I ordered quite a few grippers from cannon powerworks. Cannon is an awesome company and has given me grippers to make the jumps between levels much easier. I train on the rolling thunder and hub when I can. Have some manus grips and use those often with my gym lifts in the basement. I am pretty short and stocky 5' 8" at 220 always been thick with strong legs and back. Didnt help much in the Marine Corps since I was usually around 40 pounds overweight. Training goals right now are to get stronger with grip and my big 3 lifts.

Thanks Tom. I have never used doubles but will have to give it a try and maybe find some of the M drill rod.

Horseshoes, huh? - humor

Life has a way of disrupting even the best laid plans. I hope to see many good bends, braced, unbraced, shoes, etc. from you. Tom S. is good people.

Do you have reds to try?

exactly just have to pull my shit together and stay motivated (Gripboard helps with that). I have 2 Red Nails but might buy the 25 bundle from Ironmind when I get some new bending pads.
