Could you tell us a little about your background in lifting?

I started basic lifting only some time after getting hooked on grip. Now I do squats, deads and a little benching following a 5-3-1 routine to slowly get stronger all over.

How did you get into grip training?

Armstrength in general always fascinated me to some extend. Then, one day, I discovered Ironmind and grippers. Soon enough the first metal grippers arrived and I joined the Gripboard and David Horne's forum after that.

You are now a GripBoard Mash Monster, what would you recommend to those aspiring to close this gripper?

Get consistent in your training. Train with a plan, and work according to that.

What does your current grip routine look like?

Once to three times per week. Mostly blocksets now. Vulcan work and TSG's.

How has your grip routine changed since you first started training your grip?

Frequency of training becomes less, but intensity becomes more

There seems to be a significant variation in the frequency of grip workouts among trainees. Have you experimented with workout frequency and its affect on your training?

One of the first routines I did was Bill's KTA program. That set me on the right track immediately, and quickly got me to closing a #3. Now, when I have a goal gripper that I cannot close by the last bit, I do best by low frequency - high intensity quick sessions, once daily for a few days.

What are your favorite grip exercises?

My favourite is David Horne's Wrist Developer. Also the Vulcan is high on my list of favourites. Lifting blobs and (smaller) inches are very much fun too.

What kind of starting routine would you recommend for a trainee new to grip training?

Mostly the KTA is adviced for more advanced gripster, but, if he has the right mindset, I wouldn't advice against it for a newbie.

If you were to start over again with your grip training, what would you do differently?

Incorporate full body strength from the beginning

What are some of your personal bests in grip exercises?

Lifted 25kg gladiator blob both hands, 67kg inch, lvl 18 on the Vulcan2 and Wrist developer2 level 14 with a tough spring.

What do you believe is the most common mistake made by new grip trainees?

Hard to tell for me. Mine was getting too much fixated on one event.

Do you have any parting advice for readers?

Enjoy your training!
