Ironmind Products At Gss

Wade Gillingham

Recommended Posts

To Gripper Superstore Customers,

There have been a number of inquiries as to why IronMind products are no longer on our website. Unfortunately Gripper Superstore will no longer be carrying IronMind products. We were notified on 1/8/2012 by Randall Strossen, President of IronMind Enterprises, Inc., that Gripper Superstore is no longer eligible to buy at discounted pricing because we are now a gripper manufacturer. Gripper Superstore is an ecommerce website owned by Gillingham Enterprises, LLC. The Gillingham High Performance brand is also owned by Gillingham Enterprises, LLC. Unbeknownst to us this has made us ineligible to buy IronMind products at a discount rate. This was not communicated to us until this past Sunday when we were attempting to place an order. I realize that the loss of IronMind products in our store is a major inconvenience to both our domestic and international customers. I apologize for this despite it being caused by a decision made completely out of our control.

Thank you for your continued support.

I bet this leaves a bit of a nasty taste in the mouth.

That's a pity to hear Wade.

That stinks. GSS's shipping is always super fast so I love ordering from you guys. It take so long to get a shipment from ironmind.

Slow service from IronMind?

If you could you please be specific about that, starting with your name, I'd like to confirm or disconfirm what you said, please.

I didn't mean any offense by that Mr. Strossen. I think the problem is where I live. I live on the East coast and your site says it normally takes 6-7 days for items to get here which is what I have experienced. When I order a gripper from GSS it take like 2-3 days. I'm like an impatient little kid when it comes to ordering stuff.

I have never had a issue with Ironmind but I think Cesare is comparing the USPS priority that the GSS uses full time for shipping vs. the UPS that Iromind uses most of the time. I live in MA and the UPS delivery takes some time to arrive from CA. I have used USPS priority with Iromind in the past but if I remember correctly it cost me a few extra bucks for anything over .75 pounds. Anyways, this is sad news for us gripper freaks!

That really does not make business sense to me. The more people selling IM products the more money IM makes. Now there is one more competitor and one less seller for IM. Like a double whammy when it only hade to be a single.

Thanks Gerry. Thats exactly the issue for us east coast guys. I didn't mean to imply ironmind has slow service.

Hope my post doesn't get pulled but it seems obvious to me what's happened here.

Wade came up with a product (GHP Grippers) that is a possible threat to Mr Strossen's

gripper line up called Captains of Crush. Randy don't like it so he unannounced removes Wade

from his products for re-sale. To me it's a no-brainer.

In the long run (maybe short term) this will end up a costly decision on Randy's part. Competition

is usually always a good thing unless the company that's used to being Top Dog (IronMind) doesn't know what

to do in response to a better or equal product offered by a competitor (GSS).

I'm very happy for Wade and what he's come up with. His grippers are the best thing to come along

in years. Not to mention some unique features bordering on the verge of genius.

Mr. Strossen should have nothing to fear as he has MANY other fine products that many people

including myself buy on a regular basis. For the record here, COC grippers are fantastic but in my

opinion Wade has produced a superior product with the GHP's.

If I was Mr. Strossen I would get my brain shifted into overdrive and view Wade's new GHP grippers as a challenge

to be more imaginative as Wade has and push forward with new and unique products that would be useful to all

those involved in grip.

Lastly, if Mr. Strossen is offended at my response here I would like to know why. This doesn't even account for the fact

that IronMind has been grandfathered in here on the GB with tons of free advertisement which I know has produced much profit for Mr. Strossen. Wade is a paid sponsor advertising his products here on the GB. Seems the advantage is to you Mr. Strossen. ;)

The above is the opinions and thoughts of Joe Musselwhite (Mighty Joe) and no one else. :)

Well, this is indeed unfortunate, Wade. I have purchased products from both GSS and IronMind in the past, and will certainly continue to do so. I found the price of S+H a little better at GSS for my particular situation. I also liked the ability to buy IronMind Grippers and other brands at the same time, saving overall S+H in the process. I'll get over it and won't hold it against either GSS or ironMind, but I wish it weren't so.

This is unfortunate but does make sense. Why would Ford allow GM to buy their vehicles at a discounted price and then sell them for a decent profit? They wouldn't. I bought half my COCs from Wade and the service and shipping were super.

IF you live closer to the east coast and want to get them quicker, I would check out Rogue Fitness out of Columbus, OH. They have all the COCs and also they will ship for free if you purchase 3 or more. I have dealt with the company many times and they are great to deal with.

Another option is EliteFTS out of London, OH. There are many times when they have free shipping on a $19.95 purchase (the exact price of the COCs) and will throw in a free t-shirt. The only downside is that they only stock the Guide, Sport, Trainer, 1, 2,3, and 4. There are no .5 sizes there.

Hopefully the sales of the GHP grippers will fill the void of the COCs for you Wade. You provide an excellent service and have a great site. I know I will continue to support the Gripper Superstore.

Mentioning EFS betrays your original position (and IM's decision to cut ties with GSS for that matter) as EFS are competitors with IronMind to a FAR greater extent than GSS is.

Thanks for the suggestion of Rogue Fitness. Looks like good equipment and I like free shipping when buying 3 or more grippers.

I can't fault Ironmind for choosing not to wholesale to a competitor.

It's good to know these grippers are considered legitimate competition to the COCs though. Usually new gripper lines are either cheap chinese junk or expensive but inconsistent collectibles. I might have to try one.

Wade, thank you for your excellent customer service and prompt shIpping of the products that you do carry. I am definitely looking forward to purchasing a GHP gripper for my next gripper purchase, as well as future products that may be out there on the horizon.

Not a problem and to clarify what I said, it also was not meant to offend, but just to clarify as we take customer service at IronMind seriously.

Here's the deal: Priority Mail across the country is faster than UPS across the country (that's the 2/3 days versus 6/7 days) and it is also cheaper for some things, but UPS is easily tracked and the insurance coverage is better, but the bottom line is that IronMind gives customers the choice between mail and UPS for all orders because no single shipping method is the best for all purposes. And if all of the shipping options give you a headache, the customer service people at IronMind will be happy to help you select the best option for your needs (plus, they are a lot smarter than I am on the details associated with each option).

If it were up to me, on a gripper or two, if I lived across the country, I'd probably opt for mail, but if it was a pile of stuff and I wanted to be sure it was fully trackable, etc., I'd go UPS.

If I really just couldn't wait, and wanted all the UPS benefits and also wanted zippy delivery at the same time, I'd go for UPS 2nd Day . . . another option that IronMind gives its customers (if you really have to have it, we can also ship overnight, as we once did to get a Blob to Wade in time, for example, for the GNC Grip Gauntlet at the Mr. Olympia), but these expedited shipping options get pretty pricey if the shipment is heavy.

To make sure I had all this shipping stuff straight, I asked IronMind's Customer Service for a comment:

"IronMind ships its orders the same day or following business day and we offer customers the choice of UPS or USPS for shipping their products domestically – at Checkout you can select from the pulldown menu whichever method you prefer. UPS does have tracking, whereas Priority Mail can be faster (3 to 5 business days instead of 5 to 6 to the East Coast). We also offer expedited shipping options. We hope this is helpful – and we appreciate your business."

Thanks much for clarifying your post!

That's exactly right about those two shipping methods—thank you for explaining that.

Because Ford would sell even more vehicles that way

Ford would gladly sell GM dealers their vehicles at the same price they sell them to Ford dealers. It's called increasing market share.

Yep, just like Sears is giving competitors the Craftsman and Kenmore brands to sell. They make a little less but it is like opening storefronts for free.

Randall, think more with your brains and less with your emotions. I respect you but come on. I like one stop shopping.

First I appreciate everyone's passion and support on this topic whether for, against, or somewhere in the middle. IronMind made their decision and it's something that Gillingham Enterprises, LLC, will make adjustments to and move forward with. The purpose of me making the original post was to let our customers know why IronMind products were no longer on our site. I don’t want this to turn into a bash fest. We can argue why this decision by IronMind was right or wrong, or why my personal decision to manufacture grippers was right or wrong but really I don't want to discuss details of my business on a public forum and ultimately our decision was a business decision. We were aware of the potential consequences and accepted the risk. You go into business for yourself so you no longer have to ask permission to move forward with an idea. .

The business model of Gripper Superstore is to offer competing brands of grip products. I view selling GHP grippers on Gripper Superstore as simply offering another brand. We didn't copy Captains of Crush grippers and I strongly feel that we brought to the marketplace something that is completely different in look and feel. CoC grippers are a great brand and still the benchmark grip accomplishment for many grip athletes. It's unfortunate for our customers that we can no longer offer them on our website. I wanted to build GHP grippers for longer than I have been selling CoC grippers. It just took me a long time to get the project done. It’s nothing personal against Randy or the IronMind company. This is a free market economy. I have the right to make a competing product and that’s what I did. Nobody owns a patent on torsion spring grippers and they have been around longer than me, Randy, or Warren Tetting have been alive.

Thanks everyone for your continued support. We are taking this in stride and moving forward. I urge you all to accept it and move on as well.
