what about the ivanko super gripper?

The wire sizes above are for grippers that are built with one torsion spring per gripper. For the most part, the resistance of each is fixed.

The Ivanko Super Gripper uses extension springs that can be put in different positions to change the resistance. Putting it in the list of wire sizes above would not make any sense.

There is a calculator here that will give you some idea of the resistances of different spring positions on the ISG. (I think this calculator was written by a board member, who should feel free to take credit for it in this thread.)

What do you think of the grippers from PDA. I wouldl guess that they would be of very high quality. Where do they fit on the scale how highly do you rate them.

Just got an e-mail from Bill Enniss at Weightlifter's Warehouse:

Hello Chester,

The BB Galaxy @ $28.99 will be available in 30 days.

I will email you when the BB Galaxys are in stock.

Sincerely,

Bill Ennis

Doesn't say anything about the other two Galaxy grippers yet.

The are many BB grippers and there have even been some name changes. Perhaps the man to deal with is Warren Tetting the maker of BB grippers.

Yes. Take the # on the handle and subtract 50 pounds and you will be close to the actual poundage. IE: HG250 - 50 = 200 pounds, which is nearly equal to the COC#2 @ 195 pounds. You get the idea... :D

Based upon the spring sizes in the original post, the BBSM looks to be a 2.5 - right between a #2 and a #3. If a HG300 is between a BBSM and a #3, then it would be a 2.7-2.8 ?Does that sound about right?

What am I missing here ? These are the spring sizes.

.260 COC #2

.275 BB Super Master

.281 COC #3

.281 BB Grand Master

There's 0.15" between a BBM/#2 and a BBSM and only .006" between a BBSM and BBGM/#3. That sure doesn't look like it is right in between to me, and is the reason many guys with "normal" #3's rate the BBSM about a 2.7.

Now if you have one of the newer #3's with a 3" spread, then yeah, the BBSM is about right in between since those wide #3's tend to be way harder than a BBGM or "average" #3.

Just my experiences ... neilkaz ...

That I'm trying to get an idea of where a HG300 falls in the list.

I'll link you to this recent thread http://www.gripboard.com/index.php?showtopic=17170 and you'll read some of the problem with rating HG300's since the spreads can vary so much and spring depth settings can vary somewhat.

Anyhow..my HG300 is a bit over 2 1/2" spread and definately harder than my BBSM (which is a lightly seasoned 2.79" spread) and seems closer to my BBGM.

My HG300 seems a bit tougher than what I've read others have at my spread, but a safe bet is that if you have a HG300 in the 2 5/8" spread range it likely is inbetween a BBSM and normal #3.

HG's can vary all over the place. The narrow HG's sometimes seem to get much more narrow with seasoning and use and also may have a limited "useful lifetime". My narrow HG250 started out about 2 3/8" and seasoned down to 2 1/4" and was about the same as my BBSA but gradually became 2 3/16" and then 2 1/8" and was clearly easier and now has drastically and quickly narrowed to well under 2".

I hope I'm not too far off topic in what began as a FAQ thread. If so, feel free to move it. .. neilkaz ..
