Cannon
Side note: last night, I weighed in at 120.2lbs. 10% increase in BW in a day. Can you say more about this? You gained 13 pounds in 24 hours?
Electron
Side note: last night, I weighed in at 120.2lbs. 10% increase in BW in a day. Can you say more about this? You gained 13 pounds in 24 hours? Yes. I'll elaborate. The 150% BW 2HP had been a goal of mine since late 2013, and I set a plan in motion to achieve it at Arizona. My natural weight now is 125-130lbs. I had to lose a few lbs to attain my goal. In the two months leading to the contest, I drastically decreased caloric intake to half of what I'm used to eating. I was losing weight at a rate of 2lbs/week. My body got used to this eventually. In the three weeks prior to the contest, I followed a strict nutritional plan and cut even more weight. This was then followed up by a even more strenuous week of no carbohydrates or sodium, and a strictly regulated water intake. All this added to me losing 20lbs, and weighing in at 107.4lbs. Following weigh-ins, I ate and drank to my heart's content. I regained the water I lost and filled my body with substance. So yes, I gained 13lbs in a day. But it was all just gaining back weight that I had months earlier. As a footnote: you can see I narrowly missed my goal lift. I am weighing closer to 125 today, as I am eating around 4000cals a day for another project.
Anthony C.
Just to chime in as well, wrestlers and fighters "suck weight" to meet weigh ins. I think I read in an interview with Brock lesnar when he was in ufc that he would weigh in at 265 to meet the heavyweight max, and then fight the next day closer to

There is a key difference in UFC and grip though: the time span between the weigh ins and the physical effort. In UFC, fighters are granted one day to prepare. In grip, just two hours. This would mean that if Lesnar did grip, he'd be actually competing at a weight of 265, and not 290 like in UFC.
EricMilfeld
What's your normal caloric intake? 4000 represents a lot of pizza and soju.
Electron
What's your normal caloric intake? 4000 represents a lot of pizza and soju. I believe around 2000-2500. This week, I'm shooting for 4000 every day for recovery and rest. Starting next week, I'll be training and will have a more rigid meal plan.
