How To Judge A Friendly Grip Contest?

Last summer me and 8-9 friends of mine had a grip comp in my backyard.

It was so much fun and everyone of them and a few more have been asking when we're going to have the next comp.

I was thinking I should start planning for it now and host it in july/august.

Im thinking we should have a medley with:

2 different hubs

sledge deadlifts, 2-3 different sledges

different plates to pinch 2x10kg and 2x15kg

3 different blockweights

2 different v-bars

maybe a big dumbell with a phat gripz extreme on it and another with even more weight i.e 2 dumbells with phat grips..

Im looking for ideas on other exercises and rules for how to judge it all.

How should the points be delt in the medley?

All units worth one point?

Im thinking that axle deadlifts should be an event too.

Maybe 10lbs jumps and ppl get points like: if we're 10 contestants and I come in first place I get 10 points and the one who comes last gets 1 point.

Maybe 20mm blockset on grippers should be event nr 1.

Coc1 to 3 can be used for setting the block. most reps on highest gripper wins?

Maybe grippers first, then medley and then max out on the axle?

Hope to see some with contest knowlage give me some pointers :)

Thanks

Above are the rules from David Horne's site along with the scoring methods. If it's just a friendly contest don't sweat the small stuff and have fun. But if you want lifts to be included in Top 50 lists etc then you will have to have your contest recognized and you will have to follow all the appropriate rules and regulations - from weigh in to judging etc.

Yea its just for fun!

I want more ppl to train pure grip. I have 5-6 friends that have started training some kind of grip on a regular basis since last summers comp :)

Thanks man!

I read it all, almost.

I found nothing about medleys :)

How do you deal points in a medley and are all units worth the same?

What time frame should be used?

What time frame should be used?

Example. The Medley has ten items, all count the same - one point. I always use the percentage scoring method divided by 10 just to move the decimal - so you get ten items and I get 8 - so scoring goes ten for you and 8 for me. All events can be scored the same way. Say the best 2HP is 100K and 2nd is 87K. Ten and 8.7 points respectively etc. As to a time frame for Medleys - this will depend on how many items you have in it. Set it up with heavy but not maximum weights - then go through it several times in training the same manner you would in the competition and track how long it takes - that's how long you give people.

Another question on the subject;

How will they be warming up?

We've decided to have the comp like this;

1. grippers with 2mm block.

2. medley with hubs, vbars, platepinch, kettlebell upsidedown with chains attached, blockweights, sledge deadlift, 1h euro etc.

3. Axle deadlifting.

How should they warm up prior to each event?

Did you mean a 20mm block :) ?

Let people do whatever warmup they choose before the contest starts - then have a short designated time period to do a gripper warmup. No warmup for the Medley - then a short designated warmup for axle. Often Axle warmups are done as the bar is loaded for each rising bar weight - but be careful - unlimited warmups as you go can be a real time sink.
