Tonight I decided to keep working up with some reps in the 90-95% range for my squat and they were all pretty easy. The thing that isn't easy is how much hair and crap gets ripped out from the wraps and the pinching. I'm going to look at some other peoples workouts and just see how many sets they're doing while wrapped because I think between 3-5 reps at this range is good enough to keep strength gains going. That final cool down set isn't bad strength wise but I'm just getting tuckered. I know I'm a pussy. I ended up using my Climber style 2HP tonight as my thumb webbing peeled back a bit yesterday from the wide pinching. By the end of pinching tonight I couldn't get enough chalk in there to keep from bleeding and ripping so I stopped. Gave some Dimels a go but my hands were just to fried and tore up from the pinch so I couldn't get the 15-20 reps I wanted and the 2-3 sets. Oh well, I'm still gaining without them now anyways. Today was also my second crack at the wider grip. I'm not sure if I like it at I can feel it in my shoulders a bit. The last couple of sets I went to a thumbs width from the smooth and it seemed to feel a bit better. Another thing that I should've fixed right off the start that I didn't until towards the end was to drop the J hooks. Using the wider grip I lose about an inch for unracking and I fumbled with a few sets getting it out. I'm sure the 315 would've went much easier than it did but I lost my tightness and had to replant and grab my air again after the bar was unracked. Grippers I terminated a bit early as my elbows were starting to bug me from the setting and I didn't want to bugger up my bench for the day. Another point of interest is that I've basically confirmed that there's no strength loss doing shoulder pressing prior to bench. Axle deads went good but I was apparently cooked after the 313. I took a minute or less between sets on the wrist roller and frig it blew my forearms up. Just beat up and needing rest so I just did a little bit of work. I ended up just doing some singles with the dumbbell with some good long holds on each reps as well. All of them were about a medium type effort. I didn't want to fry my hands as I've got some more axle and 2HP training in the upcoming days and just wanted to give the mitts some stimulation. DU bending is really hit or miss with me so that basically says I need to practice a lot more and get my technique down. When it's good I can kill fairly good steel, when it's not I suck donkey nuts. Pinching was going good. Surprisingly it was my right hand today that was vastly stronger. I basically had to pull the bar down the last inch or so. This method felt strong with lighter weights but as soon as I started going up I was finding it very taxing on my triceps and forearms and the bar got into a weird position once in my hands. Due to all of this 305 felt heavy and I missed it right at the bottom with my second rep. Pissed I just decided to knock some weight off and do some triples to finish off tonight's pressing. I bought a climbing rope a couple of weeks ago and decided to get a bit of use out of it. The hammer curls with the Grip4orce was a no go as my hands were already pooped. I did the pressdowns and curls as a near nonstop circuit. It's time for some vanity guns for a fun Adam Glass contest. I'm starting at 18-7/8" cold and 19-1/8" with a pump. Time to get eating lol. I'm also starting to feel some low ache/fatigue from the previous few days grip work so I know I'm not running at full capacity and doubt I will be again until hopefully next Saturday. Until then the beatings will continue I went for an assisted pull on the Blob50 and it was so crappy I stopped there. My hands are getting really pooped. I also recieved some additional bending stock from David Horne for his TORQUE!! bending certs. I feel pretty confident about doing some good damage on them but I don't want to risk hurting my elbow this close to the comp. so I'll resume my bending once that's done. Judging from my 1RM's I think I'll be staying the course for a while longer. Seated BTN Press Jan 3 - Got 1 rep then a fail at 185 Jan 6 - Stalling at 5 reps on my last couple of sets at 155 Feb 28 - 5 singles with 205 Mar 2 - Missed my 5x5 with 1 rep at 170 Bench Press Jan 3 - Missed my 5x5 by 1 set and 1 rep at 235 Jan 13 - Got 2 singles and a miss at 290 Feb 28 - Got my 5x5 plus 1 rep at 260 Feb 25 - Got 315 Squat Jan 5 - Got 7 singles with 405, just belt Mar 8 - Got 2 singles with 500, belt and wraps Another thing to point out is that I'm not overly struggling with the weights. Typically keeping them around 90-95% of my 1RM on my heavy worksets. When my arms were feeling a bit beat up in the past week or so I went to working in the 2-3 rep range at between 85-90% which I think is another way to help past a plateau on singles. First time pulling against bands and doing hip thrusts. I don't really have room for the hip thrusts so they were really awkward to set up. I also received a box of goodies from Chris Rice. Good enough to feel it but light enough to not impede any recuperation. I adjusted my grip again on the bar for presses.
